What is it with this price bouncing game??? I've seen prices literally changing week to week on clearance items, & "as is" items. Going up a few dollars one day, only to go down a few buck another day.....then back up. If anyting they should be trending down when on clearance or "as is".

The goal is to make people leery of waiting thinking the price will quickly go up...thus more impulse buyers which is more profit for Q.

A number of retailers do this. While I don't like the willy nilly fluctuations, it's what they do.

I know it doesn't work on me. I buy when I'm ready IF the price is what I want. If not, I don't buy.

It's just as @Roscoe the Rascal stated. The grocery stores are notorious. Prices change all the time.

My reasoning on why you believe QVC is playing this bouncy game is because many shoppers track prices often, maybe daily, here on an easy accessible site. Do you go to the Costco (any online retailer) site or in all the local stores daily and see what all there prices are? If we did we may find the same thing.

Just as @CalminHeart does, I do the same. When a price is at my purchase point I buy it. I buy when it is a good value for ME. If the price drops again, I really don't care much. I also have never had a price fluctuation with As Is items and that is what I purchase the most.

All kinds of weird going on the Q as of late. I had an item in 3 different colors on order for two weeks now. When I ordered, it was "in stock" then went on "advanced order" for 2 weeks! I thought, I'm just goinfg to put this in my bag, order it, and see what happens. Not only is it now in stock, it's also $8.00 cheaper! So I cancelled the orig. orders which still said "advanced" and re-ordered the items which are now "in process." I'm lucky I could still cancel the orig. items, and that the item was still avail. What gives QVC?

I noticed that with HSN. When clearance items were given free shipping, the prices went up about $3 and then came back down again when shipping was added back in.

I phoned customer service once to get a price adjustment due to the above circumstances and the representative just said "isn't that great you caught it"

Do you think QVC uses some sort of algorithm or AI that automatically adjusts prices? I can understand that it is to their advantage to encourage the consumer to buy before the price goes up but some of the price fluctuations don't make any sense to me. I can't imagine there is a team of people that makes these changes on a daily basis.

These price fluctuations on QVC haven't just started with the recent tariff issues.

They've been going on far longer than that, so it has nothing to do with current conditions. It's as if someone thinks it's a good idea to just keep playing with the prices to see IF the customer is paying attention and how much someone is willing to pay.

No other retailer I know increases the price of something on clearance (or "As Is"), but QVC does. As a customer, I no longer trust their pricing. I only buy when I decide it's the lowest price I'm happy with. Especially, since they changed the terms of their price guarantee policy to eliminate virtually every category except regular and "sale" prices. And even then, it seems to depend upon which CS rep you get.

The difference between QVC and most other retailers is they raise prices on clearance and As-Is items. I thought the goal of these items is to clear inventory so more can come in?.At least that's what the hosts tell us. Also, you can't blame the tariffs for this because clearance and as-is items are not new items coming in from overseas. They are items that have already been in the warehouse before these tariffs were imposed.
