That wasn't a good experience but I am sure that your family and friends would realize that it wasn't intentional on your part.I think that when products are returned to Q the customer should write used or defective on the box so that can't happen to anyone.People who process the returns need to take more care as they are making qvc look bad with this type of mistake.

I can understand how embarrassing that must've been, not to mention gross!

IMO, they should've shipped you a new one with free shipping, not offer free shipping on your 'next' order, although I agree that it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

You're right, that sure made QVC look bad, not only to you and your Mom, but everyone attending.

What a shame.....

I'm sure what she meant to say is, they said, they would give her free shipment on a replacement and just didn't express it correctly. Of late I have have received items that have clearly been used. One was a Denim and Co. jacket that had clearly been washed and had shrunk at least 2 sizes and was very misshapen !!! So they apsolutely DO send out used items and more times than not they aren't in very good shape ! I've come to believe if you don't purchase it when it's first shown more likely than not it will be a used return.

I am not a troll and I purchased a cutting board a few years ago and it arrived with food stuck to it. It was gross & smelled. While I was very disappointed that QVC did not have better procedures in place to check items and prevent such a thing from happening I must say customer service was very understanding and took care if it promptly. I learned then never to waitlist any items for use in the kitchen. Get them when they are new and there is ample stock on hand. It is still possible to get a return, but much less likely than if you waitlist. I really think extra care should be given to checking returns in certain areas like kitchen items, clothing, etc. Certain areas are different that if you got a flashlight that was returned and already has the batteries inside…I would still prefer all/only new items and have all returns go to “as is” so you at least know what you are getting when you order it.

I'm with you on this one, Silver Fox. Many times when I have ordered something on waitlist, it is obvious the item has been repackaged, especially when a new size suddenly appears with only 1 or 2 in stock I had previously thought returns were sold elsewhere at reduced prices.but apparently I was wrong.

I will never, ever order anything that is Waitlisted or As Is. There are just too many instances of this type of thing happening; it's become almost a given that what you would receive is an (obviously) used item. I would never take the chance, because there's nothing I need *that* badly. I think those who receive undamaged returned goods are the exception rather than the rule.

It seems clear that whatever job description of employee receives these returns, there is minimal to no inspection going on at all, on a consistent basis. I wonder if employees who deem something not fit for resale are somehow dinged or penalized when they don't recycle an item right back in.

I have heard hosts say such things as:" Why would you want to spend all the time it takes to shop in a store for clothing that has been tried on and, who knows by how many people"? I wonder if some of the clothing returned on QVC has also been tried on by more than one person. Even one time is too many.

I purchased a hair piece that arrived in ripped packaging with pieces of "other" hair caught in the clip. There is NO away they should have sent that to another customer.
