Just Keep Your Penny, QVC

Dear QVC,

Today I received a check for $0.01 which cost you $0.41 to mail; plus the costs of paper and printing, and not to mention at least one employee's wasted salary, time and effort. All because you chose not to make the credit adjustment on my account. You cited the reason is that my account currently has a zero balance. (huh??? You don't want the account to have a -$0.01 balance, but you'll waste money*, people power and time to mail a $0.01 check?)

I will NOT waste my time or the gas to drive to the bank to "cash" it.

Please keep any future pennies that you owe me since you can't see fit to put it on my credit card, which BTW is where it came from in the first place.

There are likely federal banking regulations which prohibit the penny from being credited to an account with no balance, so QVC did what the law requires. Even if that were not the case, there is no reason to be nasty about it.

I spoke with a QVC corporate representative and she said that QVC did not know this was happening and it is NOT their practice to send out $0.01 refund checks, and that is is QVC's practice to credit the customer's QVC account. That makes way more sense, as that is what they have always done before. Apparently the bank that has the QVC credit card took it upon itself to do this. She said she would contact the appropriate QVC corporate people and the bank.
