Change in Delivery Plan - What Does it Mean?

A package I have been tracking has been in transit 2-3 days and as of today the last tracking entry says something such as Change in delivery plans may delay delivery.

What does this mean?

I've gotten that message a couple of times and my orders were delayed for a few days to a week. Both times I got the orders with no other problems.

Severe weather has impacted some of the deliveries because of the hurricanes or wildfires. Even if you don't live in those areas, service can be affected because of the transit of the package through those areas.

For me, that usually means that UPS handed the package off to the USPS for delivery. So it takes an additional 2-3 days.

About five of my orders are stuck in NJ, not near fires or storm areas. Means totally messed up.

It's a Christmas present so there's no real rush. I just can't figure out why it got stopped mid-journey. Maybe the Carrollton, Texas PO had its sorting machine dismantled.

That's exactly what happened to my two orders that did that. They got part way to me and just stopped. No more updates or explanations. Until one day I just got the orders in my mailbox.🤔

A lot of mine get hung up in Bridgeport, NJ. I wonder what's going on there. Quite a few items I order come from warehouses that are 45-60 minutes drive time from me. Sometimes, I wish QVC had pickup!!
