Why So Quick To Poof Threads Instead Of Just Deleting Offending Posts?

I've seen two threads poofed today that could have remained without poofing them entirely. Why? Don't the Mods realize that posters are deliberately posting outrageous comments to derail a thread? It's happening over and over again everyday.

While many here re quick to criticize the mods and offer :helpful advice," the fact is that none of us know what is going on behinds the scenes and none of us are privy to their guidelines.

Many times, it is better to delete an entire thread to avoid further arguentative posts (these happen all the time - continuing to argue, criticizin and challenging the moderators). Additionally, many people who make suggestions such as yours may thik they are familiar with all the posts of a particular thread, but since many posts may be added in a matter of moments, we really do not get a whole picture.

The fact is, ultimately, that they can moderat\e the boards as they see fit. It's their playpen, not ours. if we do not like it, we can always go elsewhere.

It's not Rocket Science when a thread starts going bad it goes away. Babysitting a thread isn't in their job description. And anyone who's been here more than a couple months should know the mods will not answer to us. That just causes more problems in threads.

@JaneMarple I have noticed that some threads that should be deleted are not. LIke you said, some are poofed to fast. I cannot figure it out. I just don't post as much because of it.

I agree with the OP. I saw a thread this weekend which was poofed because a NEW POSTER WITH ONE POST deliberately printed an obscenity. How hard is it to just poof the poster instead of the thread???

The point is, they don't owe us an explanation either. Most threads get buried, so it's not a big deal if they get poofed.

I don't always agree that something should be poofed, but it's not my board and it's a judgement call for them.

I agree @debic.

Don't see where an explanation is required.

Time constraints probably come into play. Look at the number of posts in a day. The Mods also research and answer customer shopping concerns, answer emails and they've said they review social media as well. Not my board, not my call at any rate.

I'm so glad that I don't take these boards too seriously. To me, they're a diversion from other goings-on of the day. Nothing more. Nothings less. I'm glad the boards are here, but if one of my posts gets poofed...so be it.

This wan't done to me personally but in the past week I've noticed that threads were poofed before given a chance to stay up because someone either posted something religious, political or offensive. But the threads were not!
