Message I got accessing boards from iphone

@mods I was out today and tried to access the boards from my iPhone, something I do pretty frequently. I got this message. I just got home and had no trouble accessing them or signing in from my iPad. Can anyone help me with this please?

I’ve never broken a rule here and have no idea what excessive flagging means.

What kind of computer programming would generate an erroneous message like this?

This has got to be one of the craziest websites in the history of the internet.

@Susan-QVC- thanks. I’ve been on these boards since way back when, since the “Shop Talk” days and try to make sure I don’t violate any rules. I was just really surprised to see the message.

I cleared my history on my phone and tried again and still got the same messsage. Maybe there’s some sort of across the board problem that just cropped up with iPhones. Who knows....

@gidgetgh, Websites used to block not just user accounts but also specific IP addresses, when static IP addresses were more common. (It’s effective if someone has a static [never changing] IP address instead of a dynamic one [which changes from time to time] — but this block isn't useful for those with dynamic IPs and probably not done as much now.)

When we use a mobile device, if we use a cellular connection or a public WiFi connection our IP addresses are dynamic. The devices pick up different, variable IP addresses, and in some cases we might encounter one that’s been blocked by websites (not just QVC). Your iPad at home very likely is using your private WiFi with its own IP address which is not blocked.

To troubleshoot this: FIrst it helps to know the specific IP address your phone is connecting to and is resulting in this message, so you can be sure you change it with the following steps.

Then, go into your device settings and turn off the cellular connection (or the connection to public WiFi if that's what your phone is accessing). Then, after a minute or a few, if you'll re-enable your cellular connection or choose a different public WiFi you should be connected to a new address and be fine and able to access the Q.

Putting a device in airplane mode and later turning airplane mode off will also cause it to search for a new cellular connection and most likely a new IP address. (Closing your browser -- usually Safari on the iPhone -- in background and clearing history and cookies and website data won't hurt, but probably isn't necessary.)

@ Montana and @BalletBabe, I agree QVC has a dreadful website. In this case, though, I'm pretty sure this is a fairly common problem caused by a blocked IP address and not any sort of technical glitch with the Q or with Apple devices.

Oh a blocked IP address I never thought of. I just found out recently that I am on a Dynamic IP. They told me they change your IP address randomly to prevent fraud. I have never had a problem, but I don't use my phone for everything.
