Can't go in and correct typos on ipad

This isn't new , but it really bugs me . It's been awhile now that I just cannot go I to my post and correct spelling on my ipad . Very frustrating to write a long post then look at it and letter missing or taping on the letters so fast there is a word I don't recognize or meant. I don't use the keyboard I just hold and tape the keys ...easier with it being a mini ipad. Do have computer and larger ipad , just prefer mini , can sit anywhere.

So does anyone else have this problem with spelling on your ipad and you can't go in and correct without erasing everything up to that point?

So so do you have autocorrect enabled in settings?

I would go into settings, enable it for awhile, then if you want turn auto-correct off.

@Kitty Galore, A long time ago, there was a problem with the software on the QVC forums that prevented us from editing our posts with our iPads or iPhones, but that was cleared up and I haven't seen it since. I can easily edit on both my iPad 3 and my iPhone 5, and I don't have to erase anything to access the word(s) I need to change.

I'm not sure what you mean about not using the keyboard -- but it sounds like you're using the on-screen, virtual keyboard. You should be able to place your finger (or a stylus) on the word(s) you need to change, and then make the edit exactly as you would using a computer.

I have a feeling this problem is specific to your iPad, unless other posters are experiencing it, too. Is your iOS up-to-date? (Look in Settings, under General, tap "About" and look at "Version" to see which iOS you're using.)

Have you cleared history, cookies and website data? (Close the Safari app in background by double-clicking the home button and swiping the app away. Then, under Settings, Safari, "Clear History and Website Data" and in the pop-up tap "Clear." Then choose "Advanced," choose "Website Data" and "Remove All Website Data" to clear everything out.) Also, in Settings, Safari, Advanced, be sure JavaScript is enabled.

@LTT1. Yes I do have autocorrect, in fact I can go in on any other site even to write a review on qvc , and I can use the replace button or chsnged a word myself if I need to. It is just the forums here that I'm unable to do that. I will go to my settings and see if any of the info that has been given here can help me. Thank you All

Well, sometimes I do have the problem.

In fact, we bought a brand new iPad Pro which I adore because when DH and I would both be on line, my smaller device would be "kicked off" and I would lose wifi connection.

It still happens a bit and what I suspected is true.

'The modem installed by our provider is just pretty inept.

Often, I will type and it is slow to "take". This is a bandwidth problem.

The Apple SA admitted this. It is like a highway with too much traffic so it jams.

I believe this accounts for some of my typos--- I'm going faster than it.

We increased the speed of our internet so our bill is higher this month, but we probably need to purchase better technology.

@LTT1. I know what you mean, have that problem too, didn't realize it could be due to the speed of our internet . Will have to look I to that.

@Kachina624. My ipad is older as well , sometimes it can be slow. It's not that I can't correct spelling it's that if the misspelled word is in the middle of my post I can't go to that word and correct . The select will only go above the last word typed will not above the word I want. Don't have an issue anywhere else .

@LTT1 and @Kitty Galore, If you have a slow internet connection you might experience a lag when you're entering text on a site, but it won't create the problem of not being able to access words or letters in the body of the already-typed text to edit them.

As a sidebar about connection speed, even though I can't see any way it would be related to this particular edit glitch, it's a good idea to keep an app on your mobile device that will easily check it for you (something like Speedtest -- http://www.speedtest.net/mobile/).

@Kachina624 and @Kitty Galore, my iPad 3 is ancient, too, and I'm not having any problems editing.

@Kitty Galore, did you try the steps I suggested, and check to be sure your iOS is up-to-date and JavaScript is enabled? Can you pinpoint when the problem started to happen? If you can login and edit normally with the other devices you mentioned that you use, that means this isn't related to the settings in your profile here in the Community. Also, if you use the same internet connection for the other devices, it wouldn't be related to the connection (which, anyway, wouldn't cause this particular problem as discussed in my previous post). It's something to do with the specific device experiencing the glitch.

I think I know exactly what you're seeing -- as I mentioned, it happened to all of us a long time ago (I looked back and it was in May 2016), but at that time it was caused by the website and was universal, something that affected all of us. We would type our post, but then if we needed to change something we couldn't place the cursor anywhere except at the end of the post. Then, we had to backspace and erase text all the way to the error, correct it, and then retype everything to follow it. It was a real pain.

When did this problem start? Do you remember changing anything at that time? Those could be good clues to the cause. I'm sorry you're having this problem -- I know how frustrating it is.

I did go and look at my settings , need to go step by step as you pointed out . I am alittle technically challenged , getting much better, but still have a ways to go . Thank you for your help

If you haven't cleared cookies, website data, since the site fixed their software problem 'way back then... that could be the problem. If you close the app running in background, clear everything in Safari, and still have the problem, let us know. Sometimes even using an old bookmark to access a site will cause problems, and deleting the old one and going directly to a site will straighten things out. Fingers crossed that you can find the fix -- not being able to edit is no fun, for sure.

I just got rid of my iPad AIR (2013-3014).

i knew it wouldn't update higher than IOS 10.3.3.

Apps were not updating, etc.

So now I'm using new iPad Pro.

The internet modem from our provider is a piece of junk.

Apple will sell us their modem for $200. Maybe...

Occasionally, this new iPad Pro will "fight me" over the mid-sentence cursor and I have to wait for the internet to comply.

Hi, again, @Kitty Galore! You're welcome. I clear all history, website data, cookies, cache at least once a day. It won't cause harm and it's a very good method of avoiding or fixing problems. Best of luck, and give a hollar if you need something -- there always are helpful posters here to provide assistance.
