Mods:Another Example of Shipping Stupid

Dear Mod i made a nearly $300 handbag purchase last Thursday. It sat in Newport News apparently until today when it was shipped to a UPS facility. It would be delivered to me tomorrow if delivered by UPS but it is being turned over to the USPS. So who knows when i will receive it. For what i put in QVC's till i deserve prompt direct to me shipping. It is coming from about 100 miles down the road and will be roughed up from twice as many handlings. For a purchase of this amount a customer should receive direct shipping.

I feel your pain. However, I don't think QVC takes into consideration the amount of money a person spends with them when determining shipping methods. At to the transfer to USPS, in my case this typically adds one day to the delivery.

You are getting it shipped direct to you in about 10 days maybe sooner but that's how it is with the Q, I wish the customer base would accept this...

I think when you place an order, you have an option for UPS or SmartPost.

Maybe the Q should abort all UPS/Smartpost functions and turn everything over to Fed Ex?

Not an accepting kind of gal, LOL! I think they should go back to straight UPS or straight Fedex. "Smart" whether it is UPS or Fedex adds days to my shipping. 10 days is too long! If they want to stay competitive they need to chisel that down. I was good with shipping till they went "Smart". I also think they need a weekend shipping crew. Our orders just sit from Thursday until Sunday night. They do business all weekend. They should be shipping then too. They need to reinvent their shipping or Amazon and Walmart are going to take their world away from them.

@Shawnie I'd rather have a cub scout troop deliver it than FedEx, the guys who can't read numbers and street names. I doubt the guys in the distribution center will use your package in a game of touch football so it should get to you just fine, as my recent handbag purchase got to me. They're not terribly fragile.

As someone whose sons worked for FedEx to work their room and board through college (but all of whom were on academic scholarships), I rather resent the implication and as far as cub scouts...I doubt they would disparage their fellowman in this way and many are quite intelligent 8- and 9-year-old boys.

@Shawnie I still don't know why the Q sends a $25 shirt via UPS and almost a $1000 dollars worth of jewelry via USPS SurePost. I DO think we should have the choice and yeah, I'd PAY for that option.

BTW, the jewelry was "lost" courtesy of the Post Office.

Maybe I am alone here, but UPS/USPS SurePost gives me one more day to get a delivery. UPS and/or FEDEX will charge more for Saturday delivery. But, I do wish we had a choice of company.

UPS charges to have a package delivered to one of their store locations for customer pick-up, you know if you don't want it sitting on at the front door all day, or all night.

Had to wait up past my bedtime for a UPS package that came at 9:45pm one night!

FEDEX will take it to their store for pick up for FREE.

I wonder if all who buy online have created this monster of slow service no matter what branch of mailing we use. Everything has gone online and that keeps everybody hopping and jumping.

In future I'm gonna make an effort to start patronizing local stores. Less aggravation for all. Try it on, pay and go.

No its not so. This is The Q. I ordered an item from HSN later, much, later that same day and it is being deluvered today. Amazon is quick. Staples is quick. Meanwhile my QVC purchase will get here the end of the week.

I ordered from HSN a Curtis Stone pot hope it gets out before the next hurricane hits down there.

Yep, Q is the slowest of all. You have to order online now days for everything because the stores don't carry any stock any more. Just yesterday we had to order a mower umbrella. Everything is coming by mail nowdays. Then, you have a holiday or 2 every month and that's another delay.

Trouble with Q is , you make your order on lets say a Mon. it's in processing at least till Thurs. That's my biggest gripe.

I'm in Tx.(not near any body of water way up North) and HSN is in Florida.

Hoping my pot gets out before Irma hits them next.

I think you will be ok. None of what i have ordered from HSN have come from Florida. Just as an example i ordered some packing cubes and they shipped from Indiana I think.

Update! My QVC package is on its way!!! Today it rushed from Newport News to Richmond! Yippee. The pace of a snail. Meanwhile my HSN order has been delivered with a smile.

AGREED!!! Most things are taking longer to receive with this new "UPS Delivery by US Mail" or FedEx SmartPost method.

My local UPS is on the border between 2 counties. Sometimes my packages go to the post office in the county next door before coming to my local post office. Why? The UPS truck goes down my street every weekday, so it's not like the driver would be going out of his way.

The FedEx Smart Post packages go to Martinsburg WV first. I can't believe there's not a FedEx location in MD that would be closer???

This is what free shipping via ups to usps gets you. Days extra transit and this. And the bag was just tossed into the small box, no cushioning.

And it only came about 80 odd miles. QVC needs to care as much about how our purchases are shipped as they do about trying to get us to purchase in the first place. Cause this just looks like they dont give a flip!

I buy from other places online and get my deliveries in a day or two!!!! Q just doesn't give a darn and i have stopped shopping here! not worth the effort

I ordered from HSN a Curtis Stone sauce pot Mon. it's just now left to begin it's journey. I always took up for them, but, think they're getting as bad as the Q. Might have to do with the hurricane.

I'm gonna start making more of an effort to do the Mall till I get to old then I'll just have to put up with online shopping.

seems like you get to liking a place only to find out they're not worth a snot

either. Nothing is consistent any more.
