Customer Review?

I don't know if you can help but a new cardigan by Linea which was shown yesterday already has a 'review' on it. No way could this person have received it or even purchased it. The person has given an 'opinion' on the item and it should be removed as it's (1) not a review & (2) wasn't purchased by the person because it just premiered on TV yesterday.

Could you forward this concern to the proper folks and have the 'review/opinion' removed? Thank you.

@JustJazzmom It looks like the review is simply that person's opinion of the item. It doesn't appear to me that it should be removed.

@JustJazzmom these wasteful non-reviews occur all the time. There are several posts about it on this Forum to the Mods. Just look at the Harry Slatkin HomeWorx reviews for the past TSV. The earliest "reviews" were listed several days before the item was even offered for sale. They clearly say they weren't even purchased yet, but they were accepted and posted as bonafide reviews.

It happens in a great many product reviews. Awful.

@Caaareful Shopper Usually a product review is someones "opinion" of the item. In this case, the poster states what they felt about the item. As an informed consumer, if I were interested in making a purchase based on the reviews, I would either take into consideration what that person said or disregard it in making my purchase. Honestly speaking, someone reading that review may find what was said very helpful whereas some may not.

It has always been my understanding that a review is to be from a person who actually purchased the item and has used or worn it! I didn't know we could form an opinion just by watching it shown on TV and then write in about it!

It sounds like it doesn't matter if you own the item or not to give your review. That would explain why some of the reviews appear odd. You can go to any item and leave an opinion. Good to know.

When writing a bona fide review, I always respond to the question of whether I have purchased and received the item in question. If a review is allowed to stand from someone who has not purchased or even seen the product in real time, shouldn't it be indicated that it is not a verified review?

Opinions and speculation concerning an item belong in the forums not in the review of the item.

They should be said in the category the item belongs. Jewelry in jewelry and fashion in fashion and so forth.

Maybe if we keep posting the review was NOT helpful someone would understand what we are trying to express to them.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but do it in the right arena.

A review is based on the purchasing of a item, actually having seen it or maybe sent it to someone who expressed an opinion about it.

The issue is having purchased the item not a thought concerning it.

@Melvin-QVC In response to complaints about this practice, some time ago they added a question to the review format, "Have you purchased and used this item?" A review is a person's assessment of the performance of the item. You can't do that unless you've used it.

I am sorry @Melvin-QVC , but if this is indeed QVC's policy I find it more than a little disingenuous. How many times has the host bragged enthusiastically about an item having "all 5-star reviews?" Are you telling me that the normal, intelligent thought process should not be to assume these are actual reviews after receiving the product?

I really thought QVC's system was just not sophisticated enough to truly distinguish whether a person received the actual product. But now you're telling me it's deliberately ambiguous, and the buyer should just take the review for what it's worth. If that's the case, do away with the ratings all together and just have the statements. Why should we ever hear about "Customer Top Rated" again?

Amazon actually verifies that a person bought a product BEFORE they will post a review - good or bad. If the Q will post a review just on my opinion after seeing it on TV - boy, I can have lots of fun because I've seen some pretty ugly clothing - shoes - coats - handbags that could fill up your review stands. Apparently we have just received permission to - let it rip.

Being able give an opinion without purchasing it and using it of an item doesn't seem fair to the vendors.

That review/opinion should have been in the Dell Olio forum. That is the proper place for opinions.

So even though QVC asks if a reviewer has purchased a item when you write a review they don't care whether you did or did not actually purchase it and will post your review in either case. IN addition they do not even show that response from the writer of the review so unless it is very clear from the text in the review that the item was not purchased the reader of the review would not even know that the review is bogus. That is patently absurd.

I thought the Q added the question about whether you purchased an item to cut out reviews on items that were not purchased. So now I don't understand why that question is even there since it doesn't show up on the review.

So, a person can see something on Qvc Tv or Qvc.com and post an "opinion" without ever seeing, touching or trying on the item. And give it 5 stars and that's perfectly ok with QVC...lol So, those reviews. are meaningless. The hosts bragging about 5 star reviews is meaningless. I think I'll go post some 5 star reviews and "opinions" on things I haven't even seen.

Dell Olio Forum like most of the vendors have a designated page within QVC Blogs and Forums. That what I was talking about and most certainly where opinions would go. Not click on an item and giving your opinion under the reviews.
