Free Shipping?

The web site states free standard shipping today (July 9). I ordered a Vitamix this morning and the shipping was free. I am now trying to order t-shirts and the shipping appears to be free until I get to the Shipping Methods section. Then the standard shipping charge shows up as $10.97 for one item and $8.72 for the other item. I live in Alaska, and these are what the charges would be on a day without free shipping. What's happening with this web site? If the shipping really is NOT free, don't state that it is.

I'll be calling customer service soon I guess to get this figured out.

Why wait? Call CS before it gets later in the day so you'll know what's going on.

I read that it didn't include Alaska and Hawaii.

@Day1128 The free Shipping Offer applies to orders shipped within the Continental U.S. only. If you click were it states "restrictions apply" , you can view this information. I hope this is helpful.

@Wayne-QVC Thanks for the quick reply. In reading what is on QVC web site: Applies to orders shipped within the Continental U.S. only (the italized section). Alaska IS part of the Continental U.S. (the North American continent). Alaska is NOT part of the contiguous U.S. Therefore, according to your policy for shipping for today, I should get free shipping.

Please let me know how to make this happen as the web site does not allow the free shipping to my part of the Continental U.S.

HMMM. Not to cause problems but last I looked at a map the only state not on our continent is Hawaii. I do realize that Canada does come between Washington and Alaska but land wise they are all North America. Alaska is on the same continent as the lower states. I just checked the wording. I did not see where Alaska was excluded . Are they not part of the Continental United States?.

@Gram W You are right...I can't tell you how often I am ready to purchase from an online vendor that offers free shipping to the continental U.S....and then I find that's not what they meant....these companies need to update their geography skills.

@Day1128...the free shipping is only for the upper 48. You (AK) & I (HI) are screwed. We get to pay our full shipping. How's that for customer appreciation?

@Day1128. Customers pay enough for S&H during the year. Those living outside the lower 48 get hit really hard on any day. I don't think QVC would lose that much money giving them free shipping days along with the rest of us. QVC could at least give those 2 states something like a $5 charge if it can't be free. I understand their is a greater distance involved. They certainly make money on shipping by charging a set rate on identical individual items in the same order. 3 identical tops in 3 different colors in 1 bag and they charge me $9. Ridiculous. I never use their return postage labels because I can put things in a single package and pay less postage.

I guess they get enough business from all their stations outside the US. They no longer need the customers who stood by them for years and helped them get established. That's OK because there are so many other merchants/sites that do want our business.

Sounds like QVC doesn't realize there is a difference between contiguous and continental....

I just posted a message under Suggestion Box regarding this same issue. I am from Puerto Rico, and I did not hear or read any message that free shipping only applied to the "continental USA" on TV. I automatically ordered some items from my cell phone and was going to be charged for them. Well, I live in Puerto Rico and that's why I couldn't get the promotion either.

I have also been a customer since day one and cannot understand why QVC decided to exclude us Very sad! Yes, I also pay extra shipping charges when I order an item, and I usually pay much less if I have to return it. Why do I pay less? I use the regullar USPS which is our postal system because we are American citizens.
