Very Personal Blogs

Compliments to QVC for pretty much eliminating the very personal blogs of the hosts.

Those blogs about the private lives of the hosts led, in my opinion to a lot of criticism of certain hosts. Now the blogs are more benign relating vendor info about their products, recipes, and upcoming shows. These topics do not bring criticism.

My own opinion is that I do not need to know or want to know about their personal life. I read all the blogs and have to say the current blogs make more sense for all concerned.

I want the hosts to be pleasant, calm, mature, dress neatly, have good information about the products, & enhance the vendor who might not be savvy before the camera. So I thank you QVC for stopping those personal blogs.

@gmkb. I agree 100%. I think they are starting to realize everything isn't all sunshine and roses with posters on the hosts blogs and Facebook.

I enjoyed reading the blogs before, now I have no interest in them. They rarely seen to be updated. I do like when Jayne Brown shares a recipe.

The personal stuff was the only thing I read. It was very nice of Kerstin to share her adoption story for example.

@gmkb how do you know QVC stopped them, as you say? Is that confirmed somewhere? I thought hosts could write whatever they want. Perhaps they post less personal things specifically here on the Forum.

The hosts still post plenty of personal information on Facebook and Instagram. So it cannot be that QVC has stopped them from sharing or "over sharing."

It could be, and I'm only guessing, that maybe TPTB, told the hosts not to post too much information here, as not everybody is on Facebook, or Instagram.

I'm sure they are nice people, but I'm not at all interested in their personal lives. Sharing too much just seems like a cheap sales tactic, and I'll bet they were encouraged by QVC to do it so they would be " relatable "

I read them once and a while. There are always going to be negative nellies twisting what the hosts post. I chose to ignore them. I liked Kirstens post about the new baby. I don't buy more because of a post though.

@Plaid Pants2 Perhaps, but the hosts are always trying to get more & more customers over to their FB page and their other social media sites.

There are lots more people who do access FB than come here. QVC has over 2 million people following their page. Each host has a great deal also. It may be that Forum users don't access FB, but there are far more FB followers than Forum users.

Whether or not sharing too much is a cheap sales tactic is debatable. However, sharing too much information is unwise and risky. There are too many unhinged people out there to take such a chance, especially when posting photos of children, babies, or the inside of a host's home. It's too easy to find personal information about people on the internet. I would never take such a chance. I'm also not on Facebook.

If I read something and considered it "too personal"/TMI, I simpy wouldn't read it any more. The blogs (or FB) are not mandatory reading for site users. If it doesn't please you, stop going there. Seems simple to me.

I seriously doubt QVC, or the individual bloggers, are orchestrating the contents based on a few comments from people who post on the forum; for one thing, so many forum posters are vehement about stating they don't buy, no longer buy, will never buy again, I'll only ever consider buying again if you do this, this and this to please me, etc, why on earth should QVC pay any attention to their thoughts or wishes?

I find the blogs quite boring now. When they featured Alberti's decorating, Jill Bauers beach house remodel/decorating, Jane Traecy's New York trips, other hosts travel and homes, Jane Brown and her sister tennis and travels and kitchen remodel, they were interesting to read. Memories of past holidays, family occasions were interesting. Not interested in product info from vendors (get that in the presentations). Receipes are OK occasdionally but not when that is mostly all that is posted. Seems hosts posted receipes when they had nothing else to write about.

I don't know. I rarely if ever read any of the hosts' blogs.

Dan Hughes' wonderful blog posted today shows there was no such order by QVC to stop personal blogs. It's quite a great read.

I agree with you. However, I just saw at least 10 photos & descriptors of her DIL’s baby shower. I have to admit, I did make a short post. But, if private lives are shared by hosts (with embellishment!), isn’t that a bit one sided?

I don't care about their personal lives. Too many viewers seem to confuse a host with someone who cares about them. Very sad. These folks show up, do their job, and get their paycheck. That's all.
