Recurring Payment Craziness

I just found out that if you are paying off a balance and use recurring payments and then send an additional payment, they take less for the recurring payment.

Lets say I have 100 set for a recurring payment and then send an additional 25, they will only take 75 for the payment. Makes less than no sense to me.

Maybe a mod could weigh in and answer this for me
