The Nightingale--was I wrong!

I'd read only a couple Kristin Hannah books--enough to know that they were too lightweight for me.

But I kept reading comments full of praise for her The Nightingale. I wasn't going to bite, though: Hannah's just not my kind of author. .

Then a friend of mine who lives near Chicago recommended the book. This woman has NEVER steered me wrong. So I figured, okay, I'll give it a try.

From the very first words I was hooked. I got into the storyline so smoothly. And I learned so much!!

So I have to say I was completely wrong: this book is GREAT.

Being wrong every now and then has its benefits!

I had the book on my kindle a while ago but decided to pass on it. Then I kept reading the praises so I put it on hold again. Still a few people ahead of me. It just doesn't sound like my kind of book. We'll see.

Like you, @insomniac, I have steered clear of Kristin Hannah books. Thanks to your review, I may give this one a look.

@insomniac, I gave up on this book but am going to go back also because of the reviews. For some reason, I find it hard to go back on a book I already started and left behind ... So many good books I guess! LM

I put off reading The Nightingale because I was sure that it was going to be a bit of fluff. Boy! Was I ever wrong!

@Judaline, I love WWII books! Last night I watched The Momunents Men, all about recovering lost art at the end and after WWII. It was a feel good kind of movie!

War book?? Totally not for me but, this was one of the best books I ever read. Very powerful!!

I read this book upon recommendations from friends. It was a good Kindle buy one day so I took it. I enjoyed it a lot. And I am into thrillers and suspense novels. Try it!
