What are you Reading? NOVEMBER 2016

Happy November to all our reading friends. Here are some of the suggestions that have been requested...

Underline, "bold" or CAPITALIZE the name of the book you're reading - it makes it easier for us readers to see what it is.

Include the author of the book - first and last name. There are so many books with the same title (if you are recommending a book, we want to make sure we read the right one!)

Post a few words about the book - would you recommend it or not, and why. No need to post the cover.

Tell us the book genre - is it fiction, a mystery, romance, historical fiction, biography, memoir, or any other type of book.

Of course, there is no obligation to do any of the above, but it makes life easier for all of us.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know, as we’re always open to new ideas!

I am half way through THE TRESPASSER by TANA FRENCH. I have read everything she has written and enjoyed her books. I'm still waiting for this one to really grab me. It gets very good reviews. We'll see... LM

I am currently listening to The Secret History of Twin Peaks, by Mark Frost. I don't know how I feel about it yet.

The Texas Book Festival is this coming weekend and I am super excited about it. I look forward to it every year. I love the author panels, the book signings, and the general atmosphere. This year, Carl Hiaasen will finally be there! He's one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to hear him talk and then meet him and get my book signed.

Our book club just discussed ORDINARY GRACE by William Kent Krueger. We all agreed that it was one of the best books we have read in a while. I have already ordered another of his. I would describe it as a coming of age mystery. Takes place in 1961.

@pachutabelle I totally agree with you!! I think this book was recommended on this site, or maybe I found it and recommended it. I can't remember the sequence of events, but the fact remains that this is one of my all-time favorite books. I couldn't put it down for two seconds until I was finished.

It's surprising that I never read any of his other books. I guess because they're a series and I really don't like getting involved in series when I feel compelled to read all of them. But I know I should!

I am reading The Decision by Wanda Brunstetter! It is book one & then I will read The Gift which is book 2. I just love her books & just discovered these two. Always such nice Amish stories.

Not a fiction person 99% of the time. I am rereading Doris Kearns Goodwin's excellent book, No Ordinary Time, about the personal lives of FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt during their White House years. My mother IS a fiction reader, but I recommended this book to her, and she loved it, too.

Finished Barbara Venkataraman Jamie Quinn Mystery Collection 1-3. Never read 3 books in a series in one book before all at once, but it was quick reading and I liked the characters.

Going to read Russel Lazega's Finding Bubbie (nf) next which was a Library Thing win.

I already posted that I had finished SMALL GREAT THINGS by Jodi Piccoult. You can go back and read that post if you want. She is one of my very favorite authors and always has a reason for her stories. This one could be difficult for some to read but I enjoyed it!

LET'S EXPLORE DIABETES WITH OWLS ESSAYS, ETC. - David Sedaris. Short stories about everyday life & experiences that will keep you laughing non-stop. Sedaris is wickedly funny. He's one of my favorites. (NF)

GIRL FROM THE GARDEN - Parnaz Foroutan

A story of a Jewish family in an Iranian town and the marriage of a couple that has no heirs due to the wife being barren. The author draws from his own life's experiences to weave suspense in this beautifully written saga. (F)

I'm reading DODGERS by Bill Beverly. It started off slow but is picking up steam.

I loved ORDINARY GRACE.

Thanks to this site, I started with Ordinary Grace and am now on his 11th (Northwest Angle) installment in the Cork O'Connell series. Such good books; and I so appreciate the introduction by this groupe!

My Michael Connelly hold came in-The Wrong Side of Goodbye. Is it worth reading? It's been a long time since I put my request in and I don't know if I still want to read it?
