Even the idea of raising a hare but not keeping it as a pet makes me cry. The worry over its wellbeing would exhaust me. I have owned and loved 3 bunnies. There again, virtually any animal story, true or fiction makes me cry.

I would like to recommend Raising Hare: A Memoir by Chloe Dalton. The author found a baby hare on her property in England and resolves to raise it without turning it into a pet allowing it to be wild. It is a thoughtful touching book that would be perfect as a book club selection.
