It's a memoir about a woman who grew up in a very isolated survivalist family. Kids never went to school. They lived entirely off the grid, away from everyone and everything.. One of her brothers finally left, found education and got into college. She knew she had to escape too. Her journey is remarkable.

I wasn't abused, but was raised around older adults and kid life was very difficult and puzzling when I had to start school. Still is in many ways that I don't understand a lot about why people do things.

It is a good book and in the end, the author overcomes so much. I like to read about strong women who overcome life's challenges. Reminds me that I can also overcome my own life's challenges.
