When I closed out the old thread I noticed that you mentioned reading Finding me by Viola Davis. I read that book either last year or the previous year. I agree that it was a tough book to read.

I am currently reading The Melody Lingers On by Mary Higgins Clark. You know me, slow but sure reader! We have a small book exchange in our mail room where we live.

I picked it up recently when in there even though my own bookcase is full!

Finished Melissa Storm's Wednesday Walks & Wags, the 2nd in this series. I read the first one 5 years ago and I actually remembered all the characters. I hope to read the third one too.

I am reading Still Life by Sarah Winman. The plot revolves around a WWII vet from Britain who visits Florence during the war. He returns to seek a new life shortly after. I purchased this book because DH, my brother and sister-in-law will be visiting Florence this fall.

So far, I am enjoying the colorful characters, settings and plot twists.

Just finished The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave.

I enjoyed the drama and mystery of the plot very much. I don't think I can say anything without giving too much away.

Previously, I read Laura Dave's Hello Sunshine, however, IMO it was not as gripping to say the least.

Just finished The Drowning Woman by Robin Harding. 3/5* for me. Interesting in parts but the ending left me flat. Did a double take like...is that it?

I'm reading Summers at The Saint by Mary Kay Andrews. Good summer reading but not too much depth. I've read all of her books. Being from Savannah I like to try and find all of the allusions to local names and places that am familiar with. Even though she disguises the names.

@itsmetoo , Thanks for telling me who starred as Hannah. Jennifer Garner had to be perfect for that role.

I finished listening to THE LAST MURDER AT THE END OF THE WORLD by Stuart Turton. This is kind of a different genre for me - yes, it's a typical murder mystery, but it is more futuristic/sci-fi than I usually read. In fact, it took me a while to get into it, particularly as I was confused about the first person narrative. But I admit I read a review that set me straight and I ended up enjoying the rest of the book.

I'm reading the latest Auntie book that I didn't realize came out earlier in the year. Honestly, it's so bad, but I want to see how it progresses.

I would love to see The Last Thing He Told Me have a second book. I think it could work well.

I finished City of Dreams (Danny Ryan,#2 ) by Don Winslow. I really enjoyed this book. I read the first book in this series and, quite honestly, thought it was just okay. This book was excellent, in my opinion. The story bounces between Hollywood and Las Vegas, where Danny and some of his group are on the run after they have had to leave Providence, RI.

Edited to add: This book is about a fictional crime family.

Don Winslow is an exciting storyteller, but as usual, his books are not for the faint of heart. I will never forget "The Power of the Dog"

The next book that I will be reading is Survivor in Death by J.D. Robb.

Finished The Aviator's Wife by Melanie Benjamin. Fictional account about Anne Lindbergh and a lot about Charles of course and the kidnapping of their 2 year old son, Charlie. It was 400 pages and a little too long for me but an interesting read.

One of my favorite recent books by her was California Golden.

I should have included this book for May but never got around to it. End of May I finished GONE TONIGHT by Sarah Pekkanen (she also authored THE WIFE BETWEEN US).

This was a good psychological mystery about a young unwed mother and her over-protective relationship with her young adult daughter. A good read, kept your interest and hard to put down.

I have just finished FINDING MARGARET FULLER by Allison Pataki who authored THE MAGNIFICENT LIVES OF MARJORIE POST. This book is written in a similar vein in that it is historical fiction about a woman (Margaret Fuller) who pioneered the women's movement and has been forgotten. She was an independent thinker, way ahead of her time and was a journalist, a novelist, a teacher and friend and cohort of such infamous people as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Edgar Allen Poe, Horace Greeley. Louisa May Alcott (as a child), Nathaniel Hawthorne and more. A lot of name dropping. It was rumored that Hawthorne based THE SCARLET LETTER on Margert Fuller. This was an excellent book and if you think Marjorie Post led a life please read about Margaret Fuller. She has been lost to history until now and all women owe her a debt of gratitude.

In addition, I read HOLMES MARPLE & POE by James Patterson and Brian Sitts. Never read Patterson before and may not do so again. Book was formulaic and you could see a movie coming out of it.
