Do people still want cookbooks? I have some I enjoy reading and ..... I wonder if they would be accepted as donations at the thrift stores or charities.

They are accepted at the Goodwill store in my area. I have donated some and in turn purchased a few of the old Weight Watcher ones that used the old exchange program.

You can always donate them to your local library for their book sales.

In preparation for me moving to another home, I donated about 200 cookbooks to my local library - some of them, they sold during a Christmas fund raising for the children. Those days of 'cooking' have past for me.

Could you find a used book store that might give you credit towards a purchase of another book? That's how the one in our town works when people bring in "books" to sell. .

I found that college bound young men do want any from their grandma. Massive eye rolls 😂

I LOVE cookbooks and read them as I would a novel. I use them too of course!

I have one I treasure written by the former kitchen manager and cook for one of the wealthiest families in America in the early 1920's. It was out of print and I found it under a stack of other books at the gift shop when we visited the family's former (elaborate) home. The lady who ran the gift shop told me the author is still alive, but is quite elderly. You wouldn't believe what I learned from that book - all the movers and shakers of that era who visited that family, and the scandals! So sometimes it does pay to read cookbooks!

I also belong to a cookbook club. We meet once a month, choosing our new book the previous meeting. We choose a recipe and post it in our group Evite. We don't have to buy the book. Everyone makes the recipe they chose, and we sample them and discuss each one. It's so much fun! I am so glad I have been a member for so long! (We just started back after not meeting since the pandemic.)

We always have a lot of cookbooks at our church rummage sales too. They are popular with the customers. I'm sure if anyone is looking for something to do with the ones they don't want or need any longer, they can check with a local church or another charitable organization.

Try the library, they'll readily take used books in good condition books to sell.
