WHERE DO YOU RESEARCH VARIOUS BOOKS?

I like to read series, so my go-to site is Fantastic Fiction.

If I hear about a book, I go directly to Amazon, type in the name and see what I can find out about the book and author. Often, I can read a page or two.

That's it for me. That's all I've got. Really.

So ... the obvious question ... what are your go-to sites for researching books?

What are the sites you like ... and why?

Embarrassed to say that I have no idea what's out there! lol

Because I can read a book in a day or two, I order used books from Thrift Books. Rarely pay more than 6 or 7 dollars.

I like autobiographies or memoirs-- so, no series for me. Or fiction. I just don't like reading fiction/novels.

But I'm sure you can find what you're looking for at Thrift Books.

I either give to someone else or one of those little library boxes people have in front of their house, (there's even one on the boardwalk!).

I can't see paying full price for even a hardcover, which is my preference. I've only kept 4 books of all that I've read.

I follow authors that I like on social media. This way I 'm alerted to their new books and also their recs about other authors. I have the Kindle App which is another good source and I get daily emails from Bookbub. Bookbub posts discounts on ebooks. Amazon also seems to know what I like and I get frequent email from them.

Generally, I use the site BookSeriesInOrder dot com. When I find an author I like, it's an easy way to see all they have written. There is a link for most books to Amazon so that allows me to read reviews too.

I get weekly emails from a local independent bookstore near me announcing new releases plus their newsletter about guest authors and speakers.

I also check my local library's website for a listing of new releases. They also have a newsletter they email monthly.

When I have time I look at " coming soon" on Amazon. They will give you the books that will be coming out for the following few months ( hardcover, kindle, and paperback).

I pretty much look up books on two sites. Goodreads & Fantastic Fiction.

I have found great books by looking at various book awards listings. So for instance, I like mysteries and I'll occasionally check the Agatha Awards. There are lots of different awards for lots of different genres, etc. You can Google book awards and check them out. This is how I found Louise Penny

I look at Barnes and Noble website. Select "Coming Soon" and then under format I check hardcover to cut down on the amount shown. I change 20 per page to 40 per page and get 50 pages of new books coming out soon.

-publishers
-websites I subscribe to,
-webinars I’ve registered for,
-Amazon. Alibris, Dover, and other booksellers

I buy “real” books and Kindle books.

I read specific genre and Amazon and quite a few publishers email alerts on new books.

Try Bookreporter.com they send out various news letters and have reviews, author interviews, podcasts, etc.

Goodreads.com There is none better, especially for Series. Look up the Author and they will show each series for the Author. Put in the book and it will show you all the reviews, overall avg rating, and a whole lot more.

You can also use this to track all the books that you have read and I have got over 1400 books that I've read listed on here. Register your email!! I am a big reader, and I can't begin to tell you all of the information that is on this site.

I completely forgot about the book club forum. I get a lot of suggestions from these threads as well.

At the moment, it's the two facebook groups I belong to "Thrillers, Suspense and Mystery Readers Group " and "Friends and Fiction". Also, this forum.

The Myster Readers Group is just ok, seems like I can't find many of the books in any of the public libraries I belong to.
