Right now I am in the middle of Walk the Wire by David Baldacci.

He has a lot of books and they are a quick, interesting read. Sort of beach book detective types.

Holding my interest past bedtime 😩

I second David Baldacci -- he's terrific. Marcia Muller writes a female detective series set in current day San Francisco. The series probably started about two decades ago and the books are quite good. I went back to the beginning and read them all in order and its interesting to see how the character grows and also the writing grows over time. Enjoy.
