Can't get into it

Does anyone else have trouble with tablets and ereaders? I just can't make myself get into them. I have to have a physical book. I am very technology savy and enjoy electronics but everytime I try to read on a tablet it just doesn't feel the same. How are you guys with reading on tablets and ereaders? Do you prefer them? Do you need a physical book?

I've had two Nooks, but have rarely used them. I love the feel of a real book, and I enjoy seeing the bookmark progress through the pages.

I like the feel of the actual book. I also like to keep many of my books, another reason for the physical book.

Must admit I am addicted to the tablet for everything else.

While I prefer to turn the pages of a 'real' book, my Kindle is wonderful to take to work. If I'm reading something with many pages, I don't have to lug a big book with me. My Kindle slips easily into my bag and is lightweight. I feel there is a time and place for both. Happy Reading, everyone. docsgirl

I haven't bought one for this exact reason! Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I think they look WONDERFUL for the concept of not having to have the physical book, I just can't imagine it as a BOOK.

I love to read, and they just leave me cold. Wish I could borrow one to see if I might like it. But, conceptually, I just can't warm to it.

I buy fiction for my iPad, but never books I may want to go back into for reference. It's just so much easier to find something in an actual book. But fiction? I don't have any problem reading a "book" on my device. I had one of the original Kindles, then the second version. Love my iPad because it has iBooks as well as the Kindle app on it.

Real physical book. I like the smell of ink & pulp. Nothing like it.

I also still have my newspapers delivered to my front door each day.

I'm just the opposite, not tech savvy at all, but love my kindle. I live in a small town, with no book stores, and being able to have a new book in less than a minute is such a treat. I love books, all books, but it's nice to have a whole library in such a small package .

I like an actual book too. My vision is perfect but for some reason reading a lot from a screen gives me a headache and that doesn't happen with a book. I can see the benefits for travel though. I used to travel a lot, including some very long overseas flights, and before this technology I always packed several books and that took up a lot of space.

It took some time geting used to but now I read 90% of the time on my Kindle. So easy to throw into my pocketbook and take with me. The only time I will read a physical book is if someone gifts it to me or has it, says it's a good read and offers to lend it to me. Other than that, I use my Kindle.

Hubby is an avid reader, 250+ books a year so I thought for sure he'd like an e-reader and I bought him the very first one that came out years ago, the SONY. He used it once, maybe twice, but never again. It sits in its original box all these years later. He's just one of those people who prefers to hold a book in his hand.

I read a lot and I prefer reading on a tablet because it's easier to hold. I like being able to change font, etc. I like the easy access to many books on one device.

I was a holdout for years but now I prefer my kindle for fiction. It weighs less, it's easier for my arthritic fingers to hold and I can read in bed without disturbing my husband.

I have have access to two library systems so I can download a book in the middle of the night if I want.

I can can easily carry it in my handbag when I have appointments or whatever.

I keep going back and forth over wether I should buy a kindle paper weight. I want one really bad but I feel like I won't use it. It is convienant to have a whole library at your finger tips without carrying a book. As much as i love tablets I felt like I would have liked to read on them. Don't know what's up with that. Glad you love your Kindle. My brother in law has one and he loves his to pieces! He bough his specifically to read.

I have an iPad as well. Is iBooks better than the Amazon Kindle app? I have never used it but have always wondered if one is better than the other.

I was watching a show I think it was Seinfeld where he was talking about how we feel a sense of accomplishment after we read a book and tend to collect them like trophies lol. I keep all of my books even if I only read them once. On another note I had no idea you could still get your paper delivered to your doo. Cool. Maybe Amazon should start a newspaper delivery service.

WOW 250 books a year! That's a lot of reading. I wish I could read that much! My attention span won't let me. I think maybe I'm like you and need to get used to it. I tend to read a chapter say "Meh" and then go out and buy the physical.

I didn't think I would like using an ereader (Kindle keyboard) but now I prefer it. I'm reading many more "books" than I ever thought I would.

It's so small and lightweight that I can keep it in my handbag when I'm going out to an appointment, etc. I can bookmark pages if I want to go back to something for verification. Many paper books are too heavy for my hands.

I do understand why you don't use an ereader, but it's been a perfect device for me.
