First thing I thought about was book burnings so no I wouldn't store my books that way, it's awful.

An empty wooden structure that could have served as shelves for books (made a bit taller) is placed above a fireplace stacked with books. This scene could have served as an interesting statement in a quirky Coen brothers' film.

This is absolutely pitiful! It looks like a nice home, so why in the world wouldn't the homeowners find something - anything - as a better way or place to store their books. It's also a beautiful fireplace that's unusable. And what's up with the 4 "shelves" above the fireplace that are empty? Just shaking my head!

No I like my books all facing the right direction with spines out so you can read the titles. If I had a non working fireplace I would put a grate in it and stack wood on it then add battery operated candles.

Totally agree. As for the shelves above the fireplace, if that's what they are, I'd never be able to reach them w/out a ladder. LOL

Absolutely not, my books have to be in some sort of order, right now my books are organized by author.I can't just store mine any old way, I like them to be neat and very organized and also so that I can find them easily......

When we put our addition in and we moved our bedroom to the main floor, we turned our loft into a library. We own many,many dooks and store them in book cases with some organization.
