Know of Any Novels About Tennis ?

Wimbledon lover in the family wants to read about tennis players. I remember reading a really good one years ago with excellent descriptions of volleys and types of strokes but have no idea how to find it again for her. She doesn't want biographies of players -- she loves fiction. Anybody have any recommendations?

In addition to Amazon, I also just googled “fiction book about tennis”. One of the links is for Barnes and Nobel, but another is Goodreads. You’ll have to dig through Goodreads because the link I had also included autobiographies, but there were also some there that I didn’t see on the other lists.

I suppose it also depends on the age of the reader.

I know she doesn't want bios, but just in case she finds time after reading the novels everyone has recommended, Andre Agassi's autobiography Open is very good.

Thank you all for your suggestions. The book I remember so vividly had a female main character, but I don't remember anything at all about the plot -- just how well the actual playing of the matches was described. Apparently most of the people who play tennis don't stop to write books about it.

I checked out the listings on Amazon. I need to go familiarize myself with Goodreads. I haven't found the right way to use what it offers when I've looked there before. I did try the Novelist database on Galileo through our library, but didn't find any interesting leads. Sadly our local libraries are way underfunded, so resources there are limited.

My only regret about my lifelong reading addiction is that I wasn't smart enough to keep a "books read" log.
