As we are approaching the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for managing the monthly reading thread. For me, this is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to these forums. Wouldn't think about going anywhere else for book recommendations.

The forum is so great for notice of new books and authors and I am sure there are many like me who know who to follow in the threads for people with similar reading tastes.

Thank you, Sunala, originator and wonderful caretaker of this forum which is like a large home library with a fire burning and cats at our feet (substitute dogs if you're a dog person).

I only wish I could read fast enough to keep up with all the incredible recommendations here. Most of the books I read in 2017 were recs from here. Love it and you, Sunny!

But it also made wonder: who was the poster who used to do this? I know she was in charge for many years.

Let me add my grateful thanks to Sunala as well. If it were left up to me, I'd never read anything but mysteries, all year long. But because of this forum, I stepped out of my comfort zone and read many recommended books in different genres that I would have never tried on my own. I love this thread and check it every day. Thank you to Sunala and all those who post here!

I am a recent poster to the Book Threads. I don't know what I was thinking but I just never took the time to dive into this forum until recently. Wow!! Did I miss a lot. So many recommendations and as someone else mentioned I have even taken to books that our outside of my normal Genre of reading material. i was becoming stagnate in what I was choosing to read and I have so many more options now.

Here is to more books in 2018. I hope that everyone has a blessed New year.

I too appreciate the thread although I may not read as quickly as others or post regularly. It is always a treat to find a book that I may not ordinarily come across. Thank you Lainey for starting the thread and to Sunala to carry it to the next chapter.

@dawg lover. I couldn't agree more and I've had the opposite experience. When I was young I read every Agatha but after that I almost never read mysteries, cozies or ones like the book I'm reading now, 'The Dry" (with the exception of Flavias which are not especially mysteries).

This forum has opened me up to a world of cozies and great mysteries like "The Dry" and "Magpie Murders" that keep me so focused I can tune out some of the stress and pain I live with daily.

I stepped out of my comfort zone too and so glad I did. Thanks Lainey and Sunala and everyone here and Happy New Year to all!

I must put in my thanks as well @Lilysmom @sunala. I do not know what I would have done without this forum daily way back when Lainey was involved. Nor could I imagine my life without books. Just last week at our family Christmas dinner my son commented on how books kept my DDL from smoking many years ago. Instead of buying a pack a day she went for weeks buying a new paperback a day to distract herself from smoking. I had forgotten she used to books to ease the cravings and it worked!
