DANIELLE STEEL BOOKS - MY STATS

On Goodreads, there is a category for most authors read and of course mine was Danielle Steel at a whopping 95 books plus I have 12 on by TBR list. I actually deleted 9 since some didn't look interesting to me. So that's 107 I still have to read and that's not counting the ones she'll have out in the future. She already has 3 coming out in January, May, and July of 2018 so far!

As probably the only one on the planet who has not read Danielle Steele...are her books series? or stand alones? Romances?

Thanks...might give her a try. Nothing and I mean nothing like a good book...unless it is a pet.

Hers are stand alone and definitely romance. Glad I can introduce someone to a new author!

That's just your opinion. I happen to like her books and out of 95 of them I would say that there are very few that I didn't like.

I enjoy her books and I have read too many to count. Just no longer read as the above poster wrote.

I have read 53 books by Danielle Steel, but only 3 of those were read since 2003. I quit reading her books regularly because a condescending attitude was so dominant in her writing.

My high total goes to Debbie Macomber with 125. Linda Lael Miller and Fern Micheals each have 75.

@SWEET I have read quite a few of her books, and a couple of have been misses for me. There seemed to be a period in her writing that it almost became simplistic, repeating phrases over and over again, But the last 2 seemed to reflect her earlier writing which IMO was very good! I try to catch all of her new books, if anything, I am loyal to my authors!

I've fallen way behind (2 years) since I've retired since I don't go to the library anymore thanks to the wins from Goodreads, LibraryThing and other websites and I can't keep up with those! Maybe one of these days I'll find them in a used book store or a library book sale for cheap!

I found this on her website. She doesn't show the ones from 2018 though. I found them on Amazon.com too.

Why "of course" would it be Danielle Steel? What is it about her books that keeps you reading more?

I've never read any of her books, but may give one a try at some point. I've also seen the "too formulaic" criticisms. Then I saw her interviewed on some talk show, and she said she usually is writing SIX books at a time, !!!!!! , so I figured she defintely has a "formulaic process". How else can anyone write SIX books at one time?

I guess I say "of couse" since I've read many of her books in the past but none recently. I don't know how she does it unless she has a ghost writer and I know she types them on a regular typewriter.

I have read all of her earlier novels. I loved them! I haven't read any of her newer books, but will in the future. I read a lot of Thrillers and sometimes in between those I need a nice easy book, so I will reach for a Danielle Steel......

To me, her books are easy to get into and very easy and quick to read, and sometimes that is just what I am looking for.

I still have so many of her hardback novels starting from the 80's on but when she started getting repetitive and spinning out the same book twice a year every year I only read from the library. I did not stop reading her I just would not spend my $$ on her. Thank goodness in the last couple of years she is finding her mojo again. I have not been disappointed with the last few and the one I finished last week I really liked Past Perfect.

I have noticed she has been writing more than the two books a year like she used to do. Her children are probably all grown and maybe she has more time to create. I am just happy she is not saying the same old thing page after page anymore.

I've never read any Danielle Steel books, but if the OP enjoys them, then good for her. She's not hurting anyone. I really, really wish that posters on these boards would learn the difference between giving an opinion and stating things as fact. For example:

"That ring is ugly" - is written as a fact.

"I think that the ring is ugly" - is written as an opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when one writes something as a fact when it's not a fact, that's when threads become contentious. It seems obvious to me, and yet many posters still don't get it.
