TV show called "Alone" on the History channel

Really interesting, captivating show....saw a marathon yesterday. One of the best reality shows I have seen...no camera crews/directors around to assist or help with issues. Those people go thru unbelievable obstacles to try to win the prize!! New season starts April 21st!

From Wikipedia --- "Ten contestants are dropped off in remote areas of Northern Vancouver Island, far enough apart that they will not come in contact with each other. Contestants each select 10 items from a pre-approved list of survival gear, and are issued a kit of standard equipment and first aid/emergency supplies. They are also given a set of cameras to document their daily experiences. Attempting to live in the wild for as long as possible, the contestants must hunt for food, build shelters, and fend off predators while enduring extreme isolation and psychological distress. Contestants who wish to withdraw from the competition for any reason may call the production crew on a provided satellite telephone. The last remaining contestant wins a $500,000 cash prize."

Watched that last season and am looking forward to the start of the new one. It's amazing what people can endure and how they find ways to survive when presented with such challenges, especially the storms they had to deal with. I wonder if it's going to be all men again or if any women will be participating this time around.

Watched the show last year...it was very good......i did pick the man i thought would win...and he DID!....I would have been gone at the first sign of a bear!!

I picked him also. He seemed to have his wits about him, while the others seems to be going stir crazy.

What about the guy who BUILT A BOAT to fish....that was pretty impressive....good gravy, I imagine I'd starve or be bear food.

I saw a pre-preview of the "training" for the upcoming season. There were some women in that group, but don't know if they made it to the select "ten" picked for the show!!

DH and I watched and loved this show! We both were glad that the gentleman who won did. He had a great attitude and was very witty.

Can't wait for the new season!!! It does appear that there are some women in this grouping.

I picked him right from the start too. He for sure had the right stuff! Great show!

That's the episode I saw a few days ago. It was the first time I had watched anything from this series. I was really pulled in. I could never do anything like that ! I have a lot of respect for the skills, mindset, strength, etc for what it would take. I might try to start watching the new season.

LOVE this show! Anyone else addicted to it? Pick the new winner yet? (I did last time right away) I'm glad they added women this time and one looks like she has "the right stuff". Who do you think will go home early (one already) and who will hang in there for the $$$$$. BEARS!!!!!

ME...I really enjoy this show! Love watching the challenge of living in that environment. The fear factor is so much a part of the show! I am so interested in the different ways the contestants are dealing with survival issues.

Mary Kate cut he hand tonight and can't move her thumb. I hope she's able to stick it out

I was just watching (rerun) this show. The gal cut her hand by the axe. My knees got weak thinking of the pain. I admired her determination, but you knew an accident was going to happen w/that axe! Man, and the guy who lost his ability to start a fire. I really like these shows. I mean this is true grit!!

Yes, there are 3 woman on the island. They have aired 3 episodes so far. I, too was fascinated with the series last year. I won't give away what has happened so far. I agree with others about last year's winner he used his humor and well versed in literature to maintain. I root fo all of them to succeed even knowing only one can win I feel for each one who taps out. It is a fascinating show and relly pulls you in.

At the beginning of the show isn't there a little blurb that says "they are trained in survival"? I find that hard to believe. What a struggle all alone that would be.
