My Big Fat Greek Wedding fans

This is one of the very few movies in years that I have desired to go to see. I usually wait until they can be streamed on Amazon or rarely purchase the dvd. I loved the first one and am looking forward to 2. DH can barely remember watching the first . Too much of a chick flick --I guess. But he will go and take his date. As I remind him from time to time -- I cook his food.

I have a movie critic friend who saw it on an advanced screening and gave it a C+ in his review. Like most sequels, he said it's not nearly as good as the original. The storyline is about Nia's parents getting remarried and Nia and John's teenage daugther giving them a hard time. Nia V. and John C. basically stand around without much to do. If that's all true, it will be very disappointing. Sometimes they should leave well enough alone.

Thanks, I had just assumed it was their daughter who is getting married. I think this one will wait for HBO.

Thanks, just I had suspected, also it is very short, only about hour and a half, I hate very short movies!!!

While I do read reviews , my own opinion and enjoyment is what influences me the most . I loved the first story , cast, family feeling , etc. so I am looking forward to it.

I have read reviews of movies after seeing them and wondered what the critic had seen.

@okaywitheasypay True enough. However, it's been my experience that most (not all but most) sequels fall far short of the first excellent film. The first film here was quite charming, this second one, just from the plot details, sounds much less so to me. I think this is one instance where I'm going to be agreeing with the critics. Check out rotten tomatoes too - it's not good news.

The original movie was a rare gem. All the little ethnic nuances reminded me of my Italian family even though they were Greek.

Remember the bridesmade dresses? Or when mama was asking about the bundt cake?

She did another movie where she was a tour guide and it was all right, but not nearly as funny. I wonder if the mother and father are the same actors?

Lainie Kazan and Michael Constantine were perfect as the parents. Lainie was killer beautiful as a young woman.

@okaywitheasypay*****Did you know that you get two DVDs a week for $8.00 a month on Netflix and they pay postage! They get them a year after they come out!

Reminded me of my Italian family too. When she said to her fiance that he only had two cousins coming to the wedding and she had 50, my mother and I fell on the theater floor and rolled. Got to love huge families and how strange other people don't have all the drama that goes with us.

The first one was such a great movie! Awesome cast. Great story and lots of fun. Fact of the matter is, it's been so long since I've seen it that all I remember is how much I liked it.

Love love love that the entire cast is in this sequel. I just love Nia Vardalos. She's a kick in the pants and she's very pretty and talented. Of course, John Corbett - hubba!

The mothers and the rest of the family - great stuff! Andrea Martin is still amazing. I could go on.

Anyhoo, I don't go to movies anymore but am anxiously anticipating when I can see this new one by other means!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is on one of my HBO stattions at 7:15 pm ET - starting soon. Figures HBO is capitalizing on the opening of MBFGW 2.

I'm sure HBO will be replaying it in the next few days.

I'm so excited. We've been waiting for this movie for months. We've watched it as a family probably over a dozen times. My daugher does the greatest impression of Gus. LOL

I should add that my movie critic friend said that the Windex routine gets really old. I thought it got old in the first film after the first few "yuks" over it. It was just never that funny - pretty stupid really - so I'm not glad that she carried that over into the second film.

It's been playing on the cable movie channels for months, I can't even count how many times I've watched it recently because I had nothing else to do and it was on and I love the movie.

We saw the movie today and loved it! I was laughing so hard I almost fell off the chair!

And Michael Constantine went to high school with my Mom! (God rest her soul). Michael Constantine is not his "real" name, thats his stage name. I also used to wait on him when I lived and worked at a store in the town he was from, because he still came there to visit his sister. (and he still does). I dont work or live there anymore but I heard through the grapevine he still goes back.

Anyway he was great in the movie again, as were the entire cast!

We saw it Saturday night. It was hilarious. The theater was full and everybody was laughing.

When Gus was stuck in the tub and everyone was running down the street at the same time - we were just laughing so hard.

I'm so glad that the entire cast was back...
