RIZZOLI AND ISLES CANCELLED

TNT announced today that Rizzoli & Isles will end with its seventh season. I will really miss this show!!

According to the announcement, TNT is in the midst of an "edgier" rebranding.

Wow I really like that show. They always cancel good shows & keep on some they should cancel. No I did not know Sophia Loren is her MIL.

I also liked her on NCIS...they just had a Marathon and I watched them all. Love that show. She is a great actress...and yes I did know who she married and who her MIL is.

Oh no!!! That is so disappointing!!

Rizzolo and Isles is a kind of updated 1980s Cagney and Lacey. both of which gave girls (and women) other positive and strong role models.

I loved the fact that Rizzoli, Dr, Isles and Rizolli's mom each portrayed different types of strong women because, in TV land, everyone really needs to see different types of competent, capable, and considerate women.

I'm not interested in watching an edgier show filled with lots of violence... frequently against women where women are portrayed as victims.

This is such a crying shame... and really a shameful decision for TNT to make.

P.S. If you want a very eye opening perspective on how women are portrayed in the visual media then I highly recommend that you watch the documentary, Miss Representation (which was done in conjunction with Oprah's network).

I didn't care for Sasha Alexander at all when she was on NCIS, so I never watched her new show.

@luvmyteddy4 I'd read that about Meredith Vieira's show. I like her and liked it last season but I really grew to dislike that What's Hot Now or whatever it is topic round table they did. It grew old really fast. So I found myself switching the channel after a couple of minutes of that and then finally just stopped tuning in.

Oh no, same thing I'm saying @bebe777 Ms Bebe. I'm disappointed to read this too. I haven't heard this. Hubby & I watch this faithfully. Love both the girls in it, Mark Harmon's gorgeous wife, and Sasha (I too loved her in NCIS). Too bad for us!

Angie Harmon is not married to Mark Harmon...he's actually married to Pam Dawber, Mindy from Mork and Mindy. She was married to an athlete....Jason Sehorn. You probably already know this and just refer to her in that way, but just in case. :-)

I was just thinking last night that although I don't always watch this show, I like it. The interaction between the two females, especially Angie Harmon make this show.

It's a good show. I watch a lot of shows that are brutal. Not slasher shows, but shows most males like.

I always found this show to be a pleasant change from all of that. Well, at least I can watch the re-runs since I haven't seen many of the shows.

Maybe someone else will pick it up, you never know. I believe in giving people a variety of shows to watch. Not everyone wants science fiction/murders (graphic, etc).

I learned long ago that despite the myriad of a TV networks, very few if any are interested in appealing to my demographic, an early baby boomer. So I watch Law & Order reruns, as long as Jerry Orbach was in them, TCM for the great old movies and no commercials, PBS (especially Downton Abbey), and the cable series The Knick (which may be canceled) and Outlander. I watch BBC News, CNN during true breaking news, Morming Joe on MSNBC, and that's about it...enough for me to watch but not as much variety as I'd like. I subscribe to HBO because I enjoy Bill Maher abd John Oliver. I miss Jon Stewart and the old Steven Colbert character. The replacements on the Comedy Channel just aren't as good. It seems absurd that with all the cable channels and everything else out there, we could find more enjoyable TV but there's too much violence and stupidity out there for my taste.

I won't miss it. I used to really like this show, but the last few seasons have focused too much on Rizzoli's annoying mother.

Of course I don't know whether or nt this is true, but I read that a big part of the reason Angie Harmon's marriage went bust was working on this show. If true, I hope it was worth it to her, now that the show got canceled.

I will miss it too.....really love Angie Harmon!.....Enjoyed the characters and the humor mixed in with the drama.....hope Angie comes back in another prime time show....

@deeva I remember when it was announced she went on several shows and said it was difficult to maintain a marriage when one partner is in one place and the other somewhere else.

I got the feeling the distances was a good part of what happened. I remember when he asked her to marry him.
