TODAY Show Guests/demos with no time? WHY?

The TODAY show constantly has segments that feature some useful information but they never leave enough time for the guests to talk or demonstrate what they are trying to show. It just irritates me to no end to have them sit and yak about nothing then have a guest to cook or talk about skin care or a book or something interesting-- and they don't get half way through the piece.

Why do they schedule people for informing the audience then not give enoughtime? I simply do NOT get that! If they would shut up and quit talking about one another, we might get to see something interesting or informative once in awhile.

There, I've whined. I feel better.

And it's been that way forever! Doesn't matter who the hosts/anchors are - so they are obviously not in control of the time, but it's always annoying.

Part of the problem is probably the guests who don't realize how litle time they really have. It took me a few years in the classroom to understand that every segment of my lessons had to be timed carefully or the bell would ring while I still had something important I wanted to say or do.

So I know someone who knows that has to be in charge, but I also think whoever that is believes more is better -- as in more different topics instead of more depth. I just don't believe they are right.

Sooner, I totally agree with you on this one. I don't know if you are talking about the Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee, but it is the worst of the worst! They never give enough time to any segments and it just comes across as, well, stupid. I would like to watch their show, but I just can't stand it. Kathie Lee has been in this business for a long time and I can't believe that she doesn't see this. In fact, I can't believe that she is not embarassed by it. I know I would be.

The only thing I can think of is that the producers are trying to appeal to a younger audience....a younger audience with the attention span of a gnat. Sooooo, the show has to move, move, move along before the gnats change the channel.

Waving my arm in absolute agreement. Who ever produces that show is really bad at time management and keeping the program under control. Then what also gets my goat is during a cooking segment or clothing segment, KL and/or Hoda, start jabbering or goofing around and take valuable time away from presentation.

my hubby was yelling at the t.v. this a.m. for the same reason....guest trying to cook something very good looking, giving info and they cut the poor guy off right in the middle...stupid.....don't have them on if you can't give them the correct amount of time to show their stuff.....

Another show that is really, really bad about that, is the cooking segments on The Talk. Sharon Osborne is the worst about horsing around and detracting from the presenter's instructions, and Sheryl Underwood can be distracting also.

There's a few things that are unprofessional about how that show is run, which is why I could never watch it. Hopefully you took a minute and complained on their website!

I find that with all shows on talk TV. Yet they let these people who are pushing their movie or TV show go on and on.

I've gotten to the point of I don't watch anymore. One show I love comes on Sunday morning, lasts one and one-half hours. It's a mixture of many people and things. Lots of times it's things you'd never see otherwise. It comes on the Les Moonves channel (the same one Julie Chinn his wife is on The Talk (for me it's channel 9). I think it's called Sunday Morning.

They devote the time necessary to delve into things that at least gives you an idea about the subject and/or person. It informs you enough that if you are interested in knowing more you at least have enough information to decide.

That goes on with everything. A person gets invited on and suddenly the host is (using symbolism) jumping up and down as if to say, "Look at me! Look at me".

You see it on QVC. So many times I've wished I had a button where I could move the screen to see the purse or hear the Vendor and block out the host. I know what they look like and they say a lot of nothing. I want to see the product, what it's made of, etc. Instead we're hearing dumb stuff from the host.

I guess we viewers are all alike then. You'd think someone would ask some of us. Obviously whomever is setting up these shows never asks us, the audience.
