A CRIME TO REMEMBER - NEW SEASON ON ID NETWORK

This is one of my favorite shows. I think it is excellently done and each episode haunts me for days, probably since I remember when most of them happened. Most disturbing to me was the Kitty Genovese case which was in the headlines for days when it happened.

The new season starts tonight at 10:00 pm ET on ID Network (oh boy - good TV with that and Homicide Hunter right before it).

I see from this season's promos that one of the cases they'll be doing is the Sam Sheppard case. Despite denials from the show, that was the case on which the TV series The Fugitive was based. The Fugitive came on the air not too many years after that case was in the national news. It's the case for which F. Lee Bailey became famous when he later got Dr. Sheppard a new trial because of unfair publicity (Dr. Sam was "tried in the press" during a media circus). Dr. Sheppard's last words when he died young in his 40s were "I know who killed Marilyn." Yeah, I have no doubt

I also saw they will be doing one on Dr. Sam Sheppard. I hope they will show at the end that he most likely did not kill his wife. I always believd he was innocent after I read the book "Endure and Conquer" and felt so sad for him that his life was destroyed by this murder. @susielong I think he is guilty as sin. I'm aware of the arguments in favor of his innocence but many have been refuted, or at least disputed. I'm glad his life was ruined, because I think the first verdict was the correct one (guilty!). His story is a bit like O.J.s. He got out of jail but his life was ruined anyway.

I found the Dr. Sheppard case fascinating. I went from thinking he was guilty, to having doubt, then settling on guilty, this after watching bios and reading. He was a strange guy, thinking of the life he led after the killing.

Remember the Green Beret case, Geoffrey MacDonald case. Another Doctor who not only killed his wife, but his unborn son, and two little girls. I watched and read everything on this case, and he is as guilty as sin. It bothers me that every so often, he is brought to the forefront. These monsters just be locked away, never to be seen or heard from again. He should have gone to death row for killing four people and he lives, outrageous!

I wasn't familiar with this case, although I'm old enough to be, but it was a good show!

These old true crimes are fascinating, IMO, and the time periods are replicated so very well!

I was just thinking about him!!!! Is he still alive? He denied it forever. Forever. I mostly remember my parents keeping track in the paper. (we didn't have tv like we do today!)

Yes, Dr. McDonald is still alive and has lost his handsome-ness with age. He was born in 1943 so he's not that old. He was a handsome guy when he committed the crimes.

I remember how the author of Fatal Vision, Joe McGuinniss, started out thinking the doctor was innocent but after interviwing him and researching the case, concluded he was guilty. Great book and the TV movie with Gary Cole playing the doc was excellent also.

Pretty good show tonight. The "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" case. I thought from the promos I saw it was going to be that crime. All I could think during the show was "Tom Berenger did it!"

Hi @mousiegirl It was good (the murderer was so creepy!) but not one of my favorites. I'm "haunted" by the ones I actually remember -- and how long ago they all seem now. Those are my favorites to watch. I think about them for days afterwards and the time period when they happened. This is an excellent show though. I wish it was on more than it is - there are never that many episodes in a season.

@Pearlee I agree with all you said. The other night, there were such cases, one after the other, 20/20. Remember the case here in CA, where a Father went nuts and killed seven people, wounding two others, three being his wife and two little daughters, the third survived the attempted murder for thirty-six hours next to her dead sisters, until someone came along and rescued her. He is still on death row twenty-five years later, a travesty!!! He is now a minister in prison, outrageous after what he did.

I can't wait for the Sam Sheppherd case on Crime. I'm thinking it might be the season closer, because it's probalby the most famous case that they are doing this season,

@Pearlee Yes, that should be really good. If you want to learn of the case I spoke of, google the murderer's name Ramon Salcido. His surviving daughter says she remembers what he did to her and her sisters, horrific!

The next show - Tues. 12/15 -- is The Sam Sheppard Case!

The old TV series, The Fugitive, was based on this case, even though the producers always denied it. It was obvious that it was.
