Life of a Showgirl

Taylor Swift has dropped her 12th album called Life of a Showgirl.

I am not a fan of hers, though seeing her in concert IS on my bucket list.

Iam not buying, but look forward to hearing some of her new songs.

I hear this album has the record for the most number of pre-sales in record history.

Anybody buying or look forward to listening?

No interest whatsoever. Not a fan. Amazing she has put a new album out already - seems like she just finished touring. A new tour will probably be next. She's very talented and apparently very hard working. I just think she's super over-exposed and I'm sick of hearing about her.

On TikTok fans are mixed. They say it's the same old songs which is not bad, just that they were expecting different with the title. Feels like a money grab some have said but one song Romantic is a hit sort of. I don't care either way. If people enjoy it great if not other music out there.

I think all her songs sound the same, but some really do have catchy tunes. I like that she writes them all.

Maybe this is part of her exit from FT music-making as she slides into a life of domestic bliss?

I've listened to most of it already.

Absolutely her best work yet, overall, in my view. This young woman is incredibly talented and hard working (she did this during her international tour.) She's a marketing and promotion genius. More power to her!

Of course it's already extremely successful and has garnered some great critical reviews.

@YanksFan Hoo boy, I read some of the lyrics to the song "Wood." Youch! Not what you'd want those pre-teen and young teen fans listening to. Wonder what she was thinking.

She is talented and yes, a marketing genius. That being said, I don't follow her, could only name a few songs she has written and am sick of hearing about her. I just find it a bit disturbing how young girls just worship the ground she walks on. It seems so over the top. Young women need to have their own self esteem and goals and not be so involved in everything that a singer does. Am I wrong here?

I agree that she is a marketing genius. She hasn't had numerous broken engagements, marriages or divorces. She also has never been caught in a scandal. She must have a great PR team.

I see it as no different than the Madonna Fandom during the peak of her career.

Many a young girl dressed up in Madonna-like fashion, and at the time a number of her songs were considered outrageous and scandalous.

I recall very well the outcry over "Like a Virgin", "Just Like a Prayer" and "Papa Don't Preach."

There is Nothing New Under the Sun (or) What goes around comes around.

@lgfan Yes, maybe. Or maybe it is just her - and having her common sense and wits about her. I am sure that other celebrities that get involved in scandalous behaviour also have good PR teams too, but they just can not help themselves from being stupid.

Most of the stations on my car radio are set to Classic Rock, so I doubt I've ever heard any of her songs.

From what I've read in various places, she definitely works hard ... so good for her!
