Conversations With A Killer:The Son of Sam Tapes

This is a three episode documentary on Netflix. "David Berkowitz's arrest ended his killing spree-but not the questions about his motives. This chilling documentary series explores his dark legacy". I lived through his killing spree, I lived in Queens, NYC and myself and my friends were terrified. I had long brown hair and would tuck my hair into my shirt.

He ruined so many lives and families. 😢

I also lived through that frightening time as this evil went on a murder spree. I also do not have any interest in seeing or hearing anything about this monster. He belongs where he is behind bars for the rest of his life.

Thank goodness for today's electronics and medical advances. Surveillance cameras on many buildings and residences, and most people are walking around with their own personal cameras (phones). And DNA technology! Thank goodness that, in most cases, gone are the days when the identity of evil nutcases can be unknown for decades.

He deserves to be forgotten. I was surprised to read he's been eligible for parole since 2002...it'll never happen but having his parole hearing every 2 yrs is unbelievable, wth.

I have not watched this yet. I am not sure if iI will.

I too grew up and NY and remember this time all too well. My sister were both in our early 20's and my mom did not really want us to to out at night.

The one thing that sticks with me I read the book the Ultimate Evil. The author did a lot of research and stated this was more than one shooter. Berkowitz was not the only one.

@LTT1 I don't know where you lived, but I was in California, and the SOS murders were on news every night, as well as consumed front page headlines forever! You must have forgot? I forgot about them, til this post. lol. , also' there were murders going on at that time as well, There was. Big 4 day war with Egypt and Libya, Elvis died, Gary Gilmore was executed, MLK KILLER ESCAPED PRISON, THE HEADLINES WERE INUNDATED EVERYDAY. ALSO, NEW YORK AND OTHER STATES HAD A HORRIBLE BLIZZARD THAT YEAR, sorry, had cap lock, and do not want to rewrite. SOS went around shooting a targeted type of woman, hair color, stature, he had no reason.

I lived through that era too and remember it like it was yesterday and boy were me and my girl friends scared to go out anywhere. I feel for those families that lost their innocent loved ones because of this guy. No need for me to watch.

Interesting fact. Spike Lee made a movie about this time period called "Summer of Sam". Part of it was filmed in my neighborhood in the Bronx and in my brother in law's hair salon.

The actors included Adrian Brodie, Patti Lupone, Michael Imperioli and Mira Sorvino. My BIL is in it for a few seconds as a hairdresser. He's still talking about it 26 years later. 😁

Between 1975 and 1977 I was having high anxiety in establishing my career.

I know ignoring the news now wasn't in my best interest, but this is what inwas doing!

I'm writing down that book title ! Would love to read it...I had heard as well that Berkowitz wasn't the only killer. IIRC the retired detectives suspected the same.

I was waiting tables in a diner in Brooklyn, working my way through college at that time. It was a terrifyinfg time. He deserves to be a forgotten footnote in history, not glorified by a TV series.

I truly believe that it was Berkowitz and only Berkowitz. I clearly remember when this was in the news every day. Some folks love conspiracy theories but I really don't think so in this case.

I remember one of my old co-workers told me she remembered when she was a kid and a Cop came to her home, and she was standing next to her Mother in the doorway. At that time, the Cops were making rounds in some NY neighborhoods going door to door warning Women about the Son of Sam killer.

@Tori3569 I don't blame your brother in law. I love Spike Lee, so creative to me a genius with his eye in film.
