@occasionalrain So, you are not content with your current living arrangement? The saying the grass always looks greener on the other side is rather a warning. If you aren't happy or content with your current living arrangement, it would be best to call it quits and then you can have all the affairs you would like. It would only be fair to the other person if you let them go.

Interesting; I can certainly understand the temption to just go for it. You convince your self that it's one time thing and that your spouse will never know and it is just for you, you aren't hurting anyone. However, while all that might run through my mind. I have a great marriage, my husband is the greatest person I know, we've build a life and a family together and I wouldn't risk it for an afternoon of seckshual gymnastics in a hotel room. I just wouldn't do that. However; if I was unhappy in a bad, passion-less marriage. If there was no love in my life. If I was married to some "lump" who didn't know I was alive. I might indeed just "go for it". In a situation like that, I think I might deserve some fun in my life.

I would rather regret that than lose everything, including my self-respect. If I loved the person I was married to, I wouldn't want to do that to him. And if I didn't love the person I was married to, it would be better for both of us to get a divorce so that we could realize our full potential instead of being trapped.

I've seen the devastation affairs cause. If children are involved it's really bad. If there are no children, then why even stay married in the first place?

It makes no sense to be married to someone if no children are involved and you lust after others. Just get a divorce and you can have a different partner every night (if you so desired).

My guess is the OP or someone who thinks it would spice up life has never seen first hand the misery, pain (I just think the word devastation says it all) that an affair costs.

Any person with a conscious, would eventually have to look in the mirror and face what they did. Luckily, I think there are very few people who don't eventually realize the mistake.

I'm perfectly happy with my husband, wouldn't want to replace him. However, that doesn't mean he is the only man alive I find desirable. What can I say, I like to try what's new, I like new experiences.

You should first understand your motivation behind such action..what are you looking for and what's missing in your life. People who cheat never think beyond themselves and always justify they will get away with it, but it's amazing how much infidelity is discovered by the marriage partner. And it can cause crazy hurt and upheaval and potential divorce. So make sure you are prepared for this.

Nope, nada. The most sacred thing to me is knowing my husband of 23 years & I cherish the comittment & vows we made to each other. He is my soulmate, my bff, the ultimate lover ( sorry, tmi!) & I could not for one second imagine betraying him. However, I will not deny that my pilot light burns at high throttle when Enrique Iglesias, Adam Lambert with those Elvis eyes & to round it out with Matthew McConaughey in that Lincoln MKX ad on television lately, I'm a hot mess! That is the extent of my betrayal , lol!

True. However, the word AFFAIR can mean something different to each person.

There are very few people who could have a one time only. Even so, I stand by what I said that, if married, a one time only, is as devastating in a MARRIAGE (and for some even a relationship) as an affair is.

Why would anyone want to be married and want to have s, ex with another person? Just get a divorce (or end a relationship) and then you could do whatever you wanted.

The person who wants to have a one time only just needs to think about how it would make them feel if someone they cared about had a one time only ON them.

It's not about making a judgement on anyone. I see it as being logical. Life is easier if, whenever possible you can say, "Do as I say, not as I do" as little as possible.

I don't have the will or frankly the energy. Even if I was interested in doing such a thing as having an affair or a one time only (LOL), I honestly don't have the type of commitment it takes to keep up the charade. It takes too much energy to scheme, lie and just orchestrate the whole thing.

I tried simply talking on the phone with three guys at once like 10 years ago and it was way too much work. I failed miserably keeping track what I told each one and what they told me so one accused me of talking to other guys. After that, I cut it off with all of them and changed my phone number. Not worth the effort for the 'thrill' in my book. I like to spend my energy on keeping things exciting between my husband and I so frankly I don't have the need to look for excitement anywhere else.

A one time only doesn't require any sneaking or lying. It's just a one time only, fun for a day, like going to an amusement park.

As for keeping excitement in one's marriage, never know what might be learned from a one time only.

Statistically, more than half of those married have cheated so what about after denying oneself a one time only, you find out your "faithful" husband has been cheating? It happens everyday.

So I assume you would be fine with your husband having similar thoughts and "experiences" as well. I'm sure he must find other women desirable and there are a lot of available ones out there.
