"As damaging as the earthquake and its aftershocks were, the fires that burned out of control afterward were far more destructive. It has been estimated that at least 80%, and at most over 95%, of the total destruction was the result of the subsequent fires. Within three days, over 30 fires, caused by ruptured gas mains, destroyed approximately 25,000 buildings on 490 city blocks. The fires cost an estimated $350 million at the time (equivalent to $8.9 billion in 2023)."

I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I did/do.

I've been waiting for it to come back.

As have many, I've been feeling sooo stressed lately, that I was looking for some kind of relief.

I found some stress relief, remembering this movie. A reminder (to myself), there is, & has been much *worse* out there!

Love this movie! Without all the computer technology the "earthquake" is very realistic.

AND, IMO, Gable's best role. An underrated actor.

(Until the last tent scene, IMHO)

This HAS to be the MOST authenic, incredible acting I've ever, ever seen Clark Gable perform!! ahhhhhhh

Such a performance!!

@JoyFilled Warrior I am sorry I didn't see your post until now. Did not know that "San Francisco" was being shown.

I have seen the movie before but I plan on watching it again. I can watch it on Watch TCM.

Thanks fo mentioning it. And I am glad Watch TCM is showing it.

Tomorrow I am going to see "Nosferatu" (1922) with Live Theatre Organ Accompaniment. Not sure what I am in for but I will find out.
