I'm really not surprised about Kim Z. mini-stroke........

She has never indicated that she ever worked out......got most of her figure from surgery and smokes like a chimney. Younger smokers out there should take note that you're not immune from these things that you think only happens to old people. For Kim to go from zero to the amount of physical output involved in DWTS can sometimes go beyond what a body can handle. I don't claim to be an expert and we don't know anything else that might be wrong with her, but from casual (TV) observation, I'm not surprised. I hope she decides to take her health seriously and stop worrying so much about the way she looks.......jmo

Having all those kids at her age probably didn't help either.

Good thing she has hired help and not like the rest of us have to do our own work and tending to our own she would have had a major stroke and worse.

It was reported this morning that Kim has dropped out of DWTS due to health reasons.

You know, perfectly healthy people also have tias and even major strokes. Young children can also suffer them. Smetimes they can occur from having a hole in the heart. Once the hole is corrected, the risk of another occurence is minimal.

I watched DWTS last night, and Kim said that her doctor told her she couldn't fly this week but could come back next week. Then Tom Bergeron said that according to the rules if you missed one week you had to drop out.

I 'hearted' your response since it brought up different thoughts, but I have to say these people aren't 'healthy'. Healthy people do not have strokes. It might be a birth defect and/or a man-made condition, but it's not the true definition of 'healthy'...and the medical field will treat it as 'not healthy'.

My best friend had a stroke. She's very active, very slim & trim...but consumes a very animal-heavy diet and worries about everything. She's Fit....but she's not Healthy. That's why it's so important to care for your insides....all those people that look good & have rock-hard abs might be a stroke/MI in the making.

On her reality show she boasts how she never works out, smokes,, drinks alcohol and eats bad.... What does she expect? Then she had major botox prior to starting dancingwith the stars.....along with the bust and stomach plastic surgery just last year.....I can see how she set herself up for a blood clot.

My " very healthy" 48 year old neighbor had a heart attack on his driveway and died.

More often than not strokes and TIA's are caused by atrial fibrillation where the heart's atrium stops pumping and quivers instead of pumping, allowing the blood in the atrium to pool, clot and then when the fibrillation stops and the atrium starts pumping again, those clots go into the circulation. A perfectly healthy person with no risk factors and an undiagnosed a-fib with no known risk factors can have a TIA or full blown stroke. No one is immune regardless of dietary/lifestyle choices.

Every bit as healthy as the posters who claim to exercise and watch their diet think they are. No signs of problems until "that day". My point being, there are no guarantees.

I had heard her name, but didn't know who she was so I did a google search. Besides the reality show, (I read) she said she wore wigs because she had cancer, or was 90% sure she had cancer, but when asked by Andy Cohen she said she found out she did not have cancer (and had never had cancer). Odd...

When I started this thread, I was speaking only of Kim..................I'm not stupid! I know that so-called perfectly healthy people can have these things happen too. My point was about her and her only...........she has admitted that she doesn't work out and we've all seen her smoke like a chimney......that and the effort needed to participate in DWTS probably didn't help the situation and THAT WAS MY POINT! Sorry for stating my opinion.

Some people might have a higher risk of having a stroke but most people aren't going to have a stroke so most times it is surprising.

She needs to ditch the cigs! She'll continue to need plastic surgery because she'll look 20 years older smoking. My granddaughter says I have fewer lines in my face than her mom (who smokes like a chimney too).
