I might be late to this, since the article I read was datelined July 31, but am sorry to hear that Kathie Lee fell and fractured her pelvis. And this, shortly after hip replacement surgery, gack.

She has said that the pelvic fracture is even worse than the pain she experienced with the surgery. So sorry to hear this-- hoping that she heals soon.

She was just on with Hoda & Jenna very recently. Not sure what the occasion was. Usually it's a book or a movie or something.

I am very sorry to hear this. From what I know about Kathie Lee Gifford, I like her very much and have respect for her. I wish her a speedy and good recovery.

She just wrote another book. She was promoting it on "Hoda and Jenna." She said she was having a lot of difficulty following doctor's orders as she has difficulty with being inactive. I guess, unfortunately, she wasn't able to sit around. I also read she found this injury worse than the hip surgery. Prayers for her recovery.💕💐

@Oznell I was sorry to hear that she fell & fractured her pelvis & she admits that she had overdid packing books. She was lucky she was able to spend a week in the hospital as around here after 3-4 days being over a certain age one is sent to rehab as the hospital just doesn't have the room.

I read that she didn't follow the protocols you need to follow after her THA (hip replacement). I have had a THA after a really bad hip disintegration (due to a congenital joint condition). You need to allow the bone to grow into and around the prosthesis. If you don't, it won't heal properly. A patient must sleep differently, exercise in a certain way, and avoid moving the joint in certain normal positions to allow it to heal correctly. You must avoid certain foods. These restrictions are annoying, to say the least but 100% necessary.

I'm sorry that she had to go through this, but joint replacements take time and effort to heal. You have to respect the process for lasting success. I hope and pray that she follows instructions now and heals completely.

I happened upon a recipe online today that was Regis's favorite pasta recipe. Then that took me to Joy making it on the Today show, then I was reading about Joy and then Kathie Lee. You know how one thing takes you down that rabbit hole and you're all over the place. I was reading about some of what she's been through. And here we are again-- must have been a terrible struggle and a lot of pain. Can't even imagine.

Thank you for letting us know. I have a lot of respect for Kathie Lee. She has been a star and stayed above the fray of being nude, drugged or drunk. She stayed with her husband that she loved very much and cared for him for a long time.

Now, can we feel a little empathy for her without condemning her for not being 150% compliant patient. How many of us are that compliant? I know that I am not. I try to get ahead of the predicted time I am to be sick. I want to be well more quickly and I usually get well by being active before my recommended time, but then that's just me and I empathize with this nice lady without condemining her.

I don't know much about her, but it has to be awful trying to heal & do PT from the hip replacement & now having a broken pelvis on top of that.

Does she have osteoporosis that she broke her pelvis in 2 places by falling on the floor? A friend's husband broke his pelvis, back & leg about 25 years ago after falling about 25' off a ladder while limbing a fir tree in their backyard in WA. It was a very long recovery.

Yikes! I hadn't heard of this. Sorry to hear about Kathie's situation. That's a lot for anyone to go though.

I hope she fully recovers without any complications, or resulting chronic pain issues. She is a strong lady, with lots of support systems, so hopefully this will help see her through recovery.

@NYwoman , I'm so sorry you had to go through all that with your replacement. Thanks for sharing your experience, and the details of recovery-- I didn't realize how complex it really is.

And for Kathie Lee, the complication of a nearby fracture right after a hip replacement must be so daunting. Saying a prayer for uneventful recovery.

Always liked KLG, a really good person. Some people have a hard time following doctors orders. As much as we hate to follow their orders, there’s a reason for them. That being said, I’m sorry to her Kathy was in the hospital recovering from a fracture, no matter how it happened. Here’s hoping she has a quick recovery.

Sorry to hear about this. A horrific thing to happen. Odd how we didn't fret about our bones when we were young but now risk of a fall is scary.

She's an Over 50 and Fabulous woman! She seems to be in good health otherwise and she takes Balance of Nature. She'll bounce back. Wishing her a quick recovery.
