Bas*tard Executioner -- Anyone watch this?

DH & I decided to give this a try. OMG -- so much gore and violence. I had to turn my head at a lot of it, but I think it is rather well done and the story line is decent enough.

Just wondered if anyone has watched and what you think? It is pretty gritty and probably this makes it realistic.

I was hoping to like it because I like those types of shows but this was a little to gory for me. I switched it when they were cutting something off the mans back.

Yes, I had to turn away on that! And that was the beginning of the show, wasn't it? I told DH --- why did they have to start off right at the very beginning with so much gore? Sheesh --- start off a little more slowly at least. This is very gritty. Not for the faint of heart to be sure.

I had a hard time understanding the dialogue, even with closed captioning on. It is pretty gory & violent. Not sure I'll stick with it over the long haul.

Thanks to everyone for the info. I thought about watching it but I watch enough shows that have people beating each other up. I will watch a regular fight but when they bring out hatchets, etc, I'm gone.

I won't waste my time on this. Thanks again for the heads up!

It seems to be quite well done and I believe they are really trying to be realistic. And the violence and blood, etc., do not bother some people, but for my taste it was really quite a lot. However, perhaps, it will not be so, all the time. DH & I have decided we will watch it 1 more time just to see, because we usually like these types of shows. If, after this, it is still overly graphic, we will just scrap it!

My husband and I didn't realize this show has begun already. Yesterday eve we watched the first one on the 'rerun' Prime channel. Holy cow, this show is HARSH! Blood, GUTS, and gore abound for sure. I didn't at all realize this was going to be placed in the medieval time, I never saw any decent ads for it before it started.

We did watch the whole episode. It'll be hard but we will more than likely continue watching it - maybe.

DH and I plan on sticking with it. I agree, it was a little difficult to understand thou. I don't mind the blood and guts. We shall see.

I am hoping that the following shows will not be quite as graphic -- but who knows -- they may get worse!!! It is interesting so I will try to watch a little more, too. Thanks for input on it, also!

I just watched the pilot this week. What really made me angry was the special warning about nudity at the beginning. After that, they showed a bloody battle, a man getting his guts eaten by a carrion bird, a child getting his throat cut, a woman being stabbed in the back of the head, a man being stabbed through the gut, and a pregnant woman being stabbed in the belly.

But beware the nudity, y'all, because that is THE WORST.

I watched half if it while I was getting ready for work; I'll watch the remainder when I get home from work. I agree, there is a lot of violence and gore. But not too close to bed time, I don't need to dream about that stuff and I often do dream about whatever I was watching before I went to bed. Some of it is for realism and to project the brutality of the era. Some of it gratuitous. No doubt, to get people talking about it. Still, it beats dancing with has beens and reality junk. I'll watch it.

I have been watching. I keep one eye open and one eye closed. It is bloody but i will stick with it. The story line seems to be entertaining so far.

I don't mind the gore. In fact the more blood, guts & gore I see, the more I am interested. My kind of show. HOWEVER.......

The story lines sucked, each & every one of them.

Lady Love

The excutioner

Annora & her burnt lover (I had to Google to find out the kind of holy woman/witch she is)

I only perked up during the tortures. Also I perked up when I realized that the crazy boy/man who talks to animals is really a serial killer.

The only character who held my interest, reason for watching was the shows eye candy Milius who is played by Stephen Moyer.

The finale

If FX renews for a 2nd season, I will not be watching. Ok, maybe I'll peek in from time to time to check out Milius.

We have watched the entire season. It does not come on here until 11 p.m. so, I have it on the DVR and will watch later today. I know it was the season finale.

I don't know if you all know, but Ed Sheeran the singer plays the bad priest's (sp) aid. He has strawberry blonde hair.

We watched the finale last night. It was pretty interesting but the very ending was kind of like --- this is how you're ending the show??? Kind of a let down, but whatever. I am glad they are renewing, as for the most part, we did enjoy it. I thought Katey Sagal was really good in her part.

It was. Kurt Sutter new 5 weeks before the last episode was filmed but chose not to tell the actors.

I wish it would have gotten picked up because even though it had a slow and violent start, I really would have liked to see where the character of Milus was going as well as Lady Love and Winnick (sp?).

Who would have thought Luca was the chosen one?

Yes. I don't know what happened with the show because I never watched after the premier. The characters weren't that compelling and I had a problem with Lady Love. I mean, I several friends who have Love as a last name (all unrelated), but naming a character Lady Love just seems so... on the nose. It also sounded a bit too much like something out of a comic book. Lady Love would make a great villain in a comic book.
