ABC's Emmy(R) Award-winning daytime drama "General Hospital" will celebrate its milestone 60th anniversary with a primetime special, "General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling," airing THURSDAY, JAN. 4 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC, next day on Hulu. The television event will feature fan-favorite cast members from throughout the years as they pull back the curtain on six decades in Port Charles, including behind-the-scenes moments, bloopers, a special fan tribute and more exciting surprises honoring "General Hospital"'s legacy.

The special will feature "GH" cast members Maurice Benard, Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Finola Hughes, Kelly Monaco, Laura Wright and more. Joining the robust slate of current and past cast members for this retrospective look at "General Hospital" are recent "Dancing with the Stars" winner and pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy, film and television star Emma Samms, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, GRAMMY(R)-winning singer/songwriter/actor Rick Springfield, and actress and writer Amber Tamblyn, among other all-star celebrity guests.

"General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling" is executive produced by Frank Valentini. Directing the primetime special is Ashley Gorman. Michelle Henry and Mary-Kelly Weir serve as co-executive producers. The special is produced by ABC.

General Hospital Next 2 Weeks: Amsterdam Mystery, Carly’s New Mission, Romantic Grand Gesture and Sonny’s Wrath

General Hospital (GH) spoilers for the next two weeks, January 1 to January 12, reveal that a tragedy will take center stage in Port Charles. During the week of January 1-5, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) will grapple with the news that Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) will never make it home from Amsterdam alive.

Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will comfort Carly as she tries to accept that difficult blow and make all the arrangements for Bobbie’s memorial service.

It won’t be long until the rest of Port Charles gets updates on Bobbie’s demise, so many PC residents will mourn the loss.

In the meantime, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) will insist Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) isn’t the SEC rat, but Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will struggle to believe that’s true.

Lois will eventually push Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to come clean – and Michael will indeed make a confession once Sonny puts enough pressure on him.

Michael will explain how he found out Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) turned in Carly and Drew, so Sonny will also find out that Michael’s been blackmailing Nina.

After Nina has some unexpected bonding time with Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), she’ll fret over undoing all the progress that they’ve made.

Nina will also worry that the real story will destroy her relationship with Sonny forever, but Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) will give her a pep talk.

Whether Nina realizes Sonny knows the truth by then or not, Sasha will urge Nina to trust that it’ll all work out.

Nina was able to forgive Sasha’s mistakes, so she’ll think Sonny and Willow can forgive Nina eventually.

Next, Carly will unleash her anger, but that may be related to Bobbie’s passing and not the SEC drama.

It’s easy to imagine Sonny agreeing to hide the truth from Carly since she’ll already be dealing with so much.

As for Willow, she’ll grow suspicious of Michael’s behavior. Michael will do something that leads Willow to believe he’s got a hidden agenda, so he might butter her up ahead of his Nina news.

Then again, maybe Willow will simply sense there’s a secret and push Michael to tell her what’s really going on.

Back with Sonny, he’ll bump into Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) at the church, so Cyrus may wonder if Nina came clean to him like he told her to.

Sonny will fume over Cyrus’ actions, so he’ll lash out and could potentially deck him once things escalate.

Across town, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) will have a major disagreement with Drew about Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) and the best path for her.

Other GH spoilers say Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) will put some clues together, so she may realize Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) has roped Scott Baldwin (Kin Shiner) into a pretend romantic scheme.

As for Adam Wright (Joshua Benard), he’ll get drunk as he tries to cope with the stress his parents are putting on him.

Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and Josslyn Jacks (temporarily played by Courtney Fulk) will find Adam in an inebriated state, so they’ll try to help.

Elsewhere, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) will make sure love’s in the air as he surprises Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) with a grand gesture.

Across town, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will realize something about Esme Prince (Avery Pohl), so will this involve Esme’s trip to see Heather Webber (Alley Mills) or perhaps the dropped glove at Wyndemere?

It’s even possible Laura will realize Esme’s memories have returned, especially if she catches Esme remembering something only the old Esme would know.

During the week of January 8-12, GH fans will see a special tribute to Jacklyn Zeman as Port Charles says goodbye to Bobbie.

Felix DuBois (Marc Anthony Samuel) and Ryan Carnes (Lucas Jones) will return for the memorial, which will bring flashbacks and plenty of tears.

Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) will share a special moment with Carly before a stranger appears with some intriguing info.

There’ll be a mystery waiting in Amsterdam, so Felicia and Carly will team up on a quick trip to see what Bobbie left behind.

Some bittersweet surprises are in store regarding Bobbie’s unfinished business, so don’t miss all the action!

EXCLUSIVE GENERAL HOSPITAL PREVIEW: CARLY LEARNS OF BOBBIE'S DEATH

Oblivious to the drama unfolding at The Savoy regarding the fateful tip-off Nina made to the SEC, Carly is having a festive end to her 2023. “On New Year’s Eve, Drew surprises Carly by coming home early from Australia and they have this amazing, romantic, fun, sexy celebration,” sets up Laura Wright (Carly). “They’re in the kitchen talking and Drew leaves the room to start a fire.” That’s when Carly’s phone rings with life-altering news.

Reveals Wright, “Carly gets a call from the American embassy in Amsterdam,” where Bobbie has been settling the estate of her late brother, Luke. “They’re calling to tell her that her mom passed away in her sleep. You don’t hear that part, but Drew comes back in the kitchen and Carly is standing there in shock. Drew says, ‘Carly, what’s going on?’ And she says, ‘My mom died.’ Carly is in complete devastation. She’s in the living room staring at a photo of her mom, saying, ‘I don’t understand, I don’t know what happened.’

It’s pretty heartbreaking, and it’s going on at the exact same time as other explosions are happening in Port Charles. So it’s a crazy beginning to 2024.”

Carly doesn’t have much time to sit with the news before an unexpected visitor throws her life further into chaos. “She is handed information that is not at all what she expected she was going to hear,” the actress hints.

Wright says that the weeks ahead will feature intensely emotional material as Carly processes Bobbie’s death. “I have to honestly say that Carly has no idea how to handle what life has just handed to her,” the actress asserts. Losing her mother “is not something she ever wrapped her head around or thought could ever happen. I think just stops her in her tracks. It really pulls out the rug from underneath her and it’s beyond devastating. She’s asking herself, ‘Why didn’t I tell her this, and why did I ever do anything awful to her?’ And then she’s got to tell her kids…. It’s a lot.”

Carly ends up taking refuge at Kelly’s. “She wants to be at Kelly’s because it makes her feel close to her mother,” Wright explains. There, Carly has poignant conversations with Elizabeth and Sonny. Of the scenes she shared with Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth), Wright notes, “Carly and Elizabeth have a really true, honest moment, because they’re coming together because of something so real.” Their chat about Bobbie gives Carly a new perspective on her mother. “Carly hearing about her mom through Elizabeth and about how much her mom changed Elizabeth’s life is such a gift for Carly.”

Wright says Carly and Sonny’s encounter “ended up being some of my favorite scenes. There is a moment where Carly opens the door and Sonny’s standing there, and then he’s like, ‘I heard about Bobbie.’ I just stare at him and I’m saying nothing and he goes, ‘You know what, I’m gonna leave you alone.’ And then I say, ‘Sonny,’ and he stops and I run into his arms.” The hug wasn’t scripted, but Wright felt that adding it was critical to illustrating the depth of the emotional bond between the characters. “He’s family. He is the deepest family that she has, now that her mother is gone. [On set] I said, ‘Even siblings that hate each other hug at their parents’ funeral.’ I said, ‘I would run into his arms, not like, “Let’s make out,” but like, ‘No one knows me better than you.’ So I just ran into his arms and the pick-up is [them] inside, and what that moment did is it allowed for the walls to be down [between Sonny and Carly]. And the intimacy of the rest of the scene was just incredible. We talked and laughed through our tears.”

Carly is only one of the Port Charles citizens who will receive the heartbreaking news about Bobbie this week, and the community will be left reeling. “The character of Bobbie was loved by so many and even people she had issues with are in shock,” says Wright. “It definitely affects everyone, and everyone was right there — everyone knew the week we had coming up, everybody had a lot of emotional stuff, and everyone shows up ready to really make it amazing.”

Right after Carly says "mom's dead", instead of going to a black screen saying in memory of Jackie Zeman. They roll the credits with a rousing rendition of deck the halls.

@Travone. EXACTLY!!!! Those in charge must be drinking the spiked cool aid again. That was the perfect opportunity to acknowledge JZ's passing.

The truth is finally out!! Now what?????? The possibilities are there, but, will the writers make it worthwhile??

Drew really needs to go....somewhere, anywhere away from GH! He brings nothing positive to the screen.

Oh, Lois.......you went too far this time!! Is this the prelude to Lois leaving PC, for now?

I'm really hoping the next several episodes will be a decent ending for Bobbie. Hopefully the writers don't blow the opportunity to give the character the proper send off. It's taken them long enough to acknowledge her passing!

Not that I ever really forgot, but I sure remembered big time today why I can't stand Lois, ugh. Send her back to Bensonhurst please! Olivia is not my GH favorite by far, but she is way more tolerable (for me) than Lois.

Olivia, as Lois' life long friend, made it abundantly clear that she wanted Lois, right or wrong, to keep quiet but nooooooooooo, not Lois! It was bad form to throw Dante in her face too.

Sonny may be Lois' friend too, but Olivia is also Ned's wife, Brook Lynn's stepmother, and really, they are quasi family.

IMO, there is only room on GH for one over the top screeching, annoying Bensonhurst dame and that's Olivia, lol.

I bet BL won't be too pleased with Mom. On the other hand, Tracy will probably approve and think it's great, lol. That could be fun.

I also found the hip hip happy ending credit music disconcerting and jarring after the drama going on at the Savoy and Carly's unbelieving, bald statement that her mother had died

If they wanted a seasonal end of year song, that's fine, but what about a subdued version of Auld Lange Syne or something else more appropriate?

Exactly, after Carly uttered the words "my mom has died" it was the perfect time to go to black screen with a picture of JZ and "in loving memory". Period. No music at all; just the acknowledgement.

As for Nina, will TPTB do it right? Probably not. It will be up to other characters to give Nina her come uppances since Carly should be heavily engrossed dealing with the sudden death of her mother.

Lois: Yep, time to skedaddle back to Bensonhurst. A little of Lois goes a long way and so does her nails. Lolo, what part of "keep your mouth shut" did you not understand? And yes, @BeckiWV bringing up the "Dante" situation from a zillion years ago? What the heck? I was waiting for a mini "cat fight" between Lo and Livvy...
