Complaint about TCM

These REAL oldies (early 30's and 40's ) are getting me down. Also those films w/ambiguous titles (Office Wife) are so outdated.

What would I like to see?-when I think of it I will let you know.

I do not pay attention to the titles of the movies. My eyes go to what actors are in the movie.

Maybe because on the guide the title is at the top away from the subject and the actors names.

I'm not understanding the complaint.

TCM should no longer show films from the 30s and 40s?

This has been the mission statement from Day 1.

And I'm just the opposite. Those are the eras I prefer to see.

I love TCM.

I've never seen many of these movies or actors/actresses and enjoying the history of these old classics.

I especially love the silent era.

Do you need another way to watch entertainment, or maybe a book? Don't understand how things you don't watch on tv can keep you watching.

Comcast took TCM out of my line-up and I miss it dearly. I LOVE old movies and can accept the titles, knowing it was a sign of the times.

They may show all the films they want,after all they own the channel,however I have noticed an over abundance of these oldies. And those titles,I believe,were used to get our parents(mine) into the theater because they hinted at something the Hayes office would not allow.

titles don't have much sometimes to do with what's in the movie.

The old old ones, although with good stories in a lot of them, are from a different time. Just pass them by. They are so out of date, it's hard to watch some of them, so I don't.

I go by actors. Only once was I let down by a favorite actor.

But TCM is about old, some classic, movies. The people who are big fans go in droves, on to cruises and have really old actors that go too. All watch old movies and interact with each other.

You may be younger and identify more with current people. I being older, still remember some of these older actors, and like the stories, and some I pass on.

Hope you find, your comfort zone in films. TCM, just may not do it for you. ??

TCM is my favorite channel. The titles don't bother me, e.g, Wife vs. Secretary, Night Nurse, Baby Face, etc. etc. As others have said, it's the actors that I focus on and movies from the '30s and '40s are my favorite--no special effects, gratuitous violence, overt sex. Only mostly good stories and excellent acting.

With so many different channels available now days, just don't watch TCM. I'm sure HBO or other channels would have movies you enjoy. This channel was built around these older classic films. These are the films I enjoy. They don't depend on fancy special affects. This is true acting.

I like TCM for that very reason. The channel shows movies from all eras. I am not into 30's and 40's films either so I just don't watch them. I wouldn't begrudge other people from watching them if they enjoy them.

We lost TCM a few years ago on Comcast, only if you pay extra for it. But we get Screen Pix which is great, lots of good oldies but usually from and after 1950's. And it is free and no commercials.

I guess that's why I like films from the 30s and 40s. I don't consider anything after 1960 to be an "oldie"!😂

Once I was teaching a Spanish 1 class and decided to give my students (mostly 9th graders) a break to watch a film. I brought in the original 1920 Zorro with Douglas Fairbanks, which old me considered the best and most fun to watch.

The students shocked me by going on "strike," refusing to watch an old black & white movie and saying they preferred a traditional grammar lesson. So that's what they got.

I'll never forget that day.

Same here - Comcast wanted more money for TCM, my favorite station, and I refused to pay it.

When we moved a few months ago, I refigured our package and got TCM back, how I missed it!

I do notice though, that they are showing many of the very old flicks, more than they used to.

I really enjoy the old stars - Bogart, Lucille Ball, Jack Lemmon, Ingrid Bergman - and the older mystery and horror movies more than the 1920's flicks.

Give Screen Pix a try if you get it, there are a few channels that offer different versions on Comcast, check your lineup.
