Matthew Perry has reportedly died. He was 54.

The actor, who was best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead at a Los Angeles-area home on Saturday, TMZ reported, citing law enforcement sources.

The outlet reported that Perry was found in a jacuzzi at the home, and no drugs were found at the scene.

TMZ was also told that there was no foul play involved, and their sources said first-responders were called to the residence for cardiac arrest.

Representatives for Perry did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

I'm really sorry to read this! I liked him on Friends, especially after he was paired with Courtney Cox. While he seemed to be doing well fairly recently, who knows what long-term damage the drinking & drugs did to him?

I am shocked too, he survived so much in the past. I loved Friends

I actually bought his book from my local library used book cart for 50 cents, I haven't read it.But I know he describes in detail in the book the medical issues he had due to drug abuse and how he miraculously survived them.

Yes reports are that he drowned in a jacuzzi but the 911 call was for a cardiac arrest. I assume the medical examiner will determine what happened.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Actually years ago we had hot tubs, jacuzzi's, whatever you want to call them, at different homes we owned, and on both there were stickers that warned about health dangers upon entering. This was decades ago and I haven't been in one since so I don't know if they are still placed in them, but I know they could be potentially dangerous.

I once read somewhere that we aren't supposed to sit in a hot tub (or I'm guessing a tub/Jacuzzi/etc. for not more than 15 min or 30 minutes, depending on the water temperature. Could cause fainting, among several other things.

This tragedy could be caused by something as simple as falling asleep for a longer than safe time.

I'm very shocked hearing this news.

RIP, Mr. Perry, and sending wishes for comfort to his family and friends.

Looks from first reports like he had a heart attack and couldn't get out of the jacuzzi ... and drowned.

He's had a LOT of health challenges in his life. Wow.

I just went online to catch up on news and read this. I'm beyond words. I too read his book. He survived so much .

If it's cardiac arrest, I can see him drowning accidently, but if that's the case, it's so tragic.

He was starting to get his life back together and was such a good soul. Just saw him and his father posing for an Instagram photo together.

This is beyond sad. I'm just in shock.

TMZ reported Matthew came home sometime in the AM after a 2 hour round of pickleball. He sent his assistant on an errand shortly thereafter. When the assistant returned two hours later Matthew was unresponsive and he appeared to have drowned.

It is unclear if what Matthew was doing prior had anything to do with his passing. While Perry appeared to be clean and sober a year ago, the prior year drew concerns from his fans when they were plugging the Friends reunion. It is so sad that he has passed. Drug and alcohol addiction is hard to fight.

Such sad and unexpected news. May he be at peace.

I know of a woman who had died in her hot tub. She had undiagnosed high blood pressure and the heat triggered an incident.

Billy Bush on CNN just said Keith Morrison from Dateline is Matthew's stepfather.

I hope you finally found the peace that had eluded you since your teenage years.
