Since its almost Halloween, what are your top 5 scariest movies? Mine Are:

Poltergeist

The Exorcist

The Original Halloween

The Legacy(with Katherine Ross and Sam Eliott)

The Changeling(George C Scott)

The Amityville Horror

ooops. Thats six!! There are so many more, I used to love scary movies and watched them all up until about 10 years ago. Can't do it anymore!

I don't think I've seen Legacy, but a big fan of Sam Eliott. I'll be looking for it during this fall season. I haven't watched the typical Halloween classics in years..

I agree with all you have on there, I have not seen Legacy though. I would add Carrie and Jason the original Friday the 13th to your list

My younger brother and I went to see The Exorcist on a Saturday afternoon together. I was 14 and he was 13. (I cannot believe my Mom let us go and got us in and went to run errands.)

That night he slept on the floor next to my bed and we left the light on all night long. The next night he went back to his room but it took both of us almost a week before we could turn out our bedroom lights.

He slept another night on the floor in my room when we watched Carrie together on HBO. He was fine until the hand came out of the ground.

I've never done well with scarey movies but I've seen a few on your list. I think I am still traumatized from the original Halloween movie, LOL! Yikes!

I would definitely include The Haunting on this list. I remember seeing that film when I was maybe 12 or 13. It hooked me on the genre.

3. Friday The 13th

4. Annihilation (that scene with Natalie Portman and her doppleganger is crazy!)

5. Get Out (a brilliantly written and acted horror movie that keeps you jumping with its weirdness and disturbing psychopathology, but also entertained with odd flashes of comedy, including a great comedic scene - the protagonist's best friend reporting his justifiable concerns to the police department.)

and 6. Us (another disturbing scarefest from Jordan Peele)

As a kid I remember going to the movies and watching the Crawling Eye with Forrest Tucker, my older brother had a thing for scary movies, have you ever seen the movie Mr Sardonicus? I remember watching that 1961 movie on TV, scared the heck out of me! As an adult I am not a fan of any scary movies.

I don't watch too many scary movies but I remember The Exorcist and the original Halloween were pretty bad. Also, the movie IT, anything with clowns gives me nightmares, truly!

For me Exorcist... I have seen all but Legacy & Changling. This Halloween, my adult sons said we are having movie night. Exorcist, mom at top of the list. And no hiding behind a blanket jeesh, you're 68 years old. It's truly only a movie 😏.

So yeah true...get beyond it. I'm kind of excited. I do love scary demonic stuff. It's the ultimate in creep for me.

IMO The Exorcist is the all time scariest. I agree with many of the other movies mentioned here. I also don't like the Child's Play- Chucky movies. It may sound silly but they are really creepy.
