some of these type shows can get too graphic for me.

This one wasn't graphic...it was just unbelievable.

My first thought was "how could any woman be married to THIS character?"
My next thought: "oh, I see"

The channel is called "Explore With Us"

The video name is "Husband Loses it after Discovering why his wife Disappeared"

Please let me know what you think if you watch it?

I watch a lot of true crime. Not for everyone, that's for sure. I love to see how law enforcement discovers "who done it".

At one time, I considered social work, so I'm interested in drama like that.

@LTT1 Thanks for the recommendation. I watched the whole thing. I knew most of the story beforehand but I'd never seen the tapes that law enforcement had, so this video was very interesting. I thought the analyses were OK, but some of them conflict with other research.

One thing I found disturbing was that the federal agents, in the last part of the video with SP, did not remind her of the penalty for lying to a federal agent.

The close female friend of S, made statements to law enforcement that were right on the money. Since SP has a long history of doing this running away thing, points to some kind psychopathology...maybe a personality disorder such as borderline personality disorder or at least some of the traits for it. It's a shame she had no psych evaluation, that we know of, as far as the video. I feel her male friend was trying to rescue her, thinking she was in a distressful situation.

I also watched it and, like @Mindy D, had seen a verison of it before without the extensive detective footage, or psych evaluation of behaviors exhibited by both the husband and her.

Her husband struck me as sociopathic or psychopathic.

(His strange lack of emotion followed by reactions that seemed to be what he thought was expected of him.)

She, of course, needs a psych eval and some major therapy.

Random thoughts:

How were they able to afford that house where the interview was taking place with his job at Best Buy and her a SAHM? Just curious where the money came from. Is there a history of scamming or insurance fraud, etc.? Or is it as simple as inherited/gifted money? At any rate, the couple certainly cashed in with this whole incident (for a while).

Maybe husband distanced himself from her at the end to throw scrutiny off a deeper motivation behind her "kidnapping"? P.S. I don't believe the blog wasn't hers. Fantastic imagination, that.

Also, what did she do during the day, all day, with the kids at daycare? It's really not difficult to teach children that small pre-school/Kindergarten readiness, so I was suspicious about her so-called reason for having the children there every day.

Overall, I think the couple thrive off drama and it's been a part of their relationship in a big way. Perhaps in a fight, then kiss and "make up" type of thrill.

I wouldn't be surprised if they get back together when she gets out.

They're a "match", imo.

Thank you both so much for watching and then giving input.

In my life, I have rarely had interactions with people such as this, but actually more exposure in the last 5 years.

That woman is "off the wall" and I agree, she needs professional help.

If she is a narcissist (there were some mentioned) then she probably bused the time during the day to cultivate other "romances". I believe the husband (shown in the video) was just done with her, although he comes off as psychopathic (no display of emotion)

Another comment from me here...her parent's home was mentioned and seemed to be wealthy parents. (?) So, she might have been given lots of help financially... and husband might have appreciated her for her access to money. ?

Yes, perhaps wealthy parents. Bad relationship with her parents, especially her mom, doesn't seem to make sense they were gifted money...but maybe she's a trust-fund baby.

More thoughts:

The detectives were baffled why the people at the house in which she was held hostage didn't report the activity.

Just surmising, but perhaps it was all planned out that the old boyfriend would pick her up and take her there so she could work on her appearance, with some help from him and perhaps the other people living there. In return, money from the "caper" would flow to them as well.

I think the more sophisticated DNA evidence threw a big monkey wrench into that plan.

If it was all planned, that is.

@LTT1 @She had a difficult relationship with her parents. Her parents called the police about her vandalising her home. She did get some professional help which was paid to her from the. Victims Compensation Fund. Part of her sentence was she had to repay it. The amount was $30,000. They did not do a very good job evaluating her, probably because she lied to them about everything. She was being treated for PTSD, anxiety and depression.

in 2003 a 911 call log was released by California police. Sherri's mother told police that her daughter was "harming herself and blaming it on her"

On Dec 17, 2003 Shasta County Sheriff's Office released that Loretta Graeff, her mother,, was alleging that her 21 yo daughter had been harming herself and blaming it on her. The mother wanted advice because her daughter was planning on moving back in with her.
On Oct. 1, 2000 her sister, Sheila Graeff alleged that Sherri may have kicked in her back door but she wasn't sure if anyone had been in the house because nothing was missing,

Later that day, her father Richard Graeff called and said that Sherri had vandalized their home in Shasta Lake.
On Oct. 3 2003 her father called again saying that a withdrawal was made from his bank account and that he suspected Sherri. Sherri was living with them at that time. There was a subsequent report that said the money was returned to his account and that Sherri was opening a credit card account.

But don't you think they would wonder about her being chained up, etc. if that were the case? Did they really not know what was going on in their own home? I can't image it.

Maybe one person who has trouble hearing and getting around, but we aren't told how many were there and their congnitive/sensory abilities.

@timeless @Great point. I wasn't even thinking of that. Sherri wasn't chained up in the home. She did that chain thing before she got ready to leave and go back home. Her ex bf gave his account of things. I either read it or watched a video of it today. He said she started trying to lose weight just a few weeks before she was ready to leave. She'd just eat half of everything. He said he refused to hit her when she asked. She deliberately injured herself to get the bruises by banging herself on the bath tub. He said he did buy the branding thing at a hobby store at her request.

She contacted the old bf to pick her up. She concocted the story of the house (which in truth she WAS there for 22 days, but of her own volition).

She arranged the chains; she planned her own starvation; she inflicted her own bruises, etc.

What I find fascinating in the video is her behavior...it was all a ploy to "do her own thing" with the old bf yet keep her husband and children.

Right... she is a psycho. It appears they both are.

@timeless I asked myself the same question about the house where they were in. He, Keith, worked as a home theatre specialist at Best Buy. I also think the little blog was hers. The husband's flat affect during the retelling could have been due to his hearing the stories many times from Sherri , because he didn't want to be implicated in her story or because he already had figured Sherri out as a schemer (but he didn't know about the he ex bf yet) an was over her bs. He seemed bored to tears to be there.

I read an article in The Daily Mail, title below, that says what he wanted in the divorce, including their rented home and three vehicles. I'm not sure if this meant that they rented the home or if they own it and it's now rented out. The article also said he wanted to be absolved of 56k Sherri borrowed from Kathleen, who I think must be her mother. They used a lot of the GoFundMe money to pay off credit cards. It was an article about Keith. Sherri bought a cabin and she lives in it. There's a photo of it in the article.

At the time of the disappearance the internet was filled with stories of their fairytale life, romance, gorgeous wedding, beautiful Sherri in different outfits and settings, Sherri and husband with the beautiful kids in different outfits at different locations enjoying themselves. It looked almost like a publicity campaign.

@LTT1 @She never had relations with the old bf. She told him she was being abused and he helped her. At first, I thought she was wanting the old bf back as a romantic partner but all the stories confirm they were never together in that way the whole 22 days she stayed with him. Of course, they could be lying. If they're not lying, I'm still back at square one about Sherri's motive in orchestrating this whole thing.

I have some possible reasons. One being attention seeking. According to everyone interviewed that knew her, she was big on this.

Another would be for financial gain. It seems they were living above their means and had credit card debt and debts from personal loans. I'm still trying to figure out how she wasn't working and they could afford the house, all the vehicles and child care on what Keith made at Best Buy.

Maybe she just didn't want to be with her husband anymore and was too chicken to tell him or was unsure of her feelings. Maybe she wanted freedom from being a wife and mom. Maybe she was unhappy with her life and wanted something else. Maybe she felt overwhelmed from it all and wanted a break from it, but not a permanent break up.

The other being symptoms of borderline personality disorder. Persons with the disorder often put persons on a pedestal and then rapidly drop them from their high regard, doing this over and over again. They vacillate like this and blame others for things. They have bursts of anger. They have poor relationships with their family. It's a complicated disorder. They exhibit many of Sherri's behaviors. Women with it have a high chance of also being diagnosed with PTSD. Not necessarily a part of this, but could be; but many of the men she dated and her own mother said said she would make false accusations against them. The same men, friends and family said she was always lying. She would also injure herself and try to manipulate her mother by saying her mother did it to her. He mother called the police about it. She could also have more than one personality disorder or have another disorder entirely. She could also have some other type of mental disorder that's not a personality disorder.
