Any Northern Exposure fans?

My favorite of all time. I bought the series as each season came out. Quirky characters starring John Corbett. So enjoyable.

It was a great show. We watched it every week. I do not recall seeing it in syndication. I wonder why.

It's because the creators didn't want to get rid of the authentic 80's music and it's very difficult and expensive to use it.

Yes, I watched it without fail. Loved all the quirky characters and no one had a grip on reality is except the Doc.

@buyornot The expensive music licensing problem is the same reason Moonlighting is not in syndication. I loved both Northern Exposure and Moonlighting, but alas alack.

Yes it was a favorite. The show declined a bit when a main character's actor had a contract dispute. Our library has the series on DVD's so I check them out when I'm bored.

just checked our library and they have all seasons. they are all checked out and have waitlist. that's surprising, to me. loved the series.

That was the problem with one of my favorites, China Beach. VietNam in the 60's, music was part of the feel of it. I think they eventually sold the videos of some episodes, but not the whole series. Northern Exposure was filmed in my state. Mostly in a studio across the lake from Seattle, but outdoor scenes in Roslyn. It is a fun town to visit.

@laluzdelmundo they are both favorites of mine and I've always wondered why they were not ever in syndication. Thanks for the explanation. I really wish northern exposure would though as it was so good and quirky which I loved !! I used to watch with my dad and we would just laugh and laugh , we both have that personality that tends to like that humor ..good memories ..

Loved China Beach too ! The music I feel was essential to the show .

About 2 mos. ago, I purchased the whole series. It just stayed in our minds of being such a good show. Watched it all again, and loved it. I'll probably watch it again this winter.

We had wondered about another show, can't think of what one it was now, but maybe the music licensing is the same on that one. Good to know.

I'll never forget that poignant refrain they played at the end of each episode.

@frenchie, Northern Exposure is my favorite TV show of all time as well. I have a copy of the entire series -- on VHS, LOL! I don't have a VHS player any more but I have all the tapes I recorded and meticulously labeled. Can't bring myself to toss them away as they languish on a bookshelf. I tried to trash them when spring cleaning, but it didn't work out exactly. Maybe next year 😀
