Food network canceled Valerie Bertinelli

Valerie Bertinelli posted on IG that her last season on Food Network starts soon and this will be her last one as she has been canceled by the Network. She did not say why the her show was canceled.

@Kindaglitzy I saw that this morning, it's a shame. In my opinion there are not enough actual cooking shows on the Food Network. 🤷‍♀️

Television is ALL about ratings. Poor ratings means loss of advertisers which means bye-bye. I worked in entertainment for over a decade.

I liked her show! Food Network has wayyy too many dopey competition shows-

I miss 30 minute meals-RR is a little controversial but taught me so many tricks I still use today, ie: the garbage bowl, get all your supplies upfront and in one shot, and #1) start up the pan or oven to get that goin' first! She was so great on that show...

@Skyegirl21 , I learned recipes on that show that I use to this day, I like Rachael.

@Kindaglitzy Totally agree! I was just telling a friend to watch Valerie B. if she wanted to know how and why to use certain techniques. Her show is one of the few FN shows I watch. Trish Y. and Ree just don't do it for me. I like some of Ree's recipes, but I can find them online. The Kitchen would be good if there were more down to earth chefs. Well, I guess we're in the minority.

I can't say I'm surprised by this news. I have watched Valerie's shows thru the years and enjoyed most of them. I have a very simple style of cooking and she had shows that were right on with my ways, which I found very enjoyable. Good food created with less stress and fewer ingredients.

I saw red flags of concern with Valerie after Eddie VH died and thought she voiced many things about their relationship she should've kept private out of respect for his current wife. She's been quite verbal since her second divorce which to me is exactly why privacy clauses in legal documents are often a very good thing.

Valerie needs time to settle into herself, and I'm not sure a focused TV show is the best thing right now. Am sure she will continue to find work and do well.

@Skyegirl21 She taught me to instantly prep and bag my produce upon washing in the sink after purchase so when you need it for a recipe or other meal prep, it's already done!

I loved 30 minute meals too......but we can never go back. Her whole demeanor has changed and now ,taken with her own "star appeal " ,she will no longer be the sweet wholesome person that she used to be...the humility is completely gone.

One of my favorite shows on FN is Duff and Valerie on the kids baking challenges. They seem to mesh well and both of them have a gift for working with the kids. I also really enjoy the Chopped shows when they have kids competing.

I have always really like her, I follow her on social media and the last few years I think she has really been struggling. I hope she is getting some mental health counseling. I hope this isn't the final straw of many personal issues that have challenged her the last few years. Hopefully she has someone looking our for her,

I like Valerie and the kids baking championship series with Duff. However, I could never get into her cooking show although I tried to watch it. It seemed like every time I watched it she made that love cake where the ingredients flip-flopped while baking. She made different flavors of it.

She sold that love cake on QVC for about 60 dollars. I followed the recipe on the show and it would be cheaper to make it yourself.

There are so many shows I miss that were on when the food network first went on the air. Actual cooking shows where you could watch someone make a dish and explain the process. I found it very helpful and interesting. Now it is mostly ridiculous competition shows with some of the same pompous judges on more than one of them. Not surprised their ratings aren't what they used to be.

She will be sorely missed on the Kids Baking shows with Duff. She is especially good when a child starts to get upset; she seems to really care about them. God help us if they give it to Molly Yee (I had even commented when she hosted the original Spring Baking Championship last year, that she was better suited to the kids. Nevertheless, I see them giving it to Carla Hall if they choose to continue with it.
