Hallmark Series “Ride”

Hallmark will begin a new series "Ride" tonight, March 26 at 9 PM Eastern. It is about an Oklahoma rodeo family trying to save their ranch.

Edited to add: It is Colorado. Oops! Sorry for the confusion, but same storyline.

I thought I heard it was about a Colorado rodeo family.

Any-hoo, I'm going to watch it if nothing else for the fashions.

@SilleeMee. Same here looking forward to the fashions and western motif.

Interesting Nancy Travis after Last Man Standing is doing another show set in Colorado.

Unfortunately some of Hallmark series shows have NOT caught my attention and this was one of them.

I am sorry about it as I liked Nancy Travis in other shows she has been in.

This is the 2nd new Hallmark series that I couldn't get into. The first was The Way Home. I'm just not into time travel. And The Ride was a little boring. It's not Yellowstone.

I recorded it but haven't watched it. I have my doubts. The premise, alone, lacks appeal for me. A man aiming to become a 'champeen' bull rider to save the family ranch being coached by a virtual Barbie Doll. Uh uh. I'll give it a look but, like I said, have my doubts.

Hallmark is clearly trying to spread their wings and that's probably a good thing, but not sure whoever is making choices about the direction in which they need to go is up to it. They appear to be trying to piggy back on the popularity of the western motif with this one and of speculative fiction with The Way Home, but I think their success will be marginal with either of them. As for The Way Home, I gave it two viewings and was out. Didn't like anything about it. Was hoping the whole lot of them would go jump in that lake and stay there.

Both Hallmark's previous main and mystery formulas had grown stale, as had much of their repeat programming, but it sort of had a niche. It appears they've ceded a lot of that turf to other cable channels, as they try different things. That said, much of their current repeat programming is rather dismal, in my opinion, and these new series and many of their movie efforts are pretty much falling flat for me. It'll be interesting to see where they end up.

Rodeos are animal abuse for fun and profit. The family deserves to lose their ranch and Hallmark should be ashamed for condoning rodeos and this family.

Haven't watched yet, however, I agree I have trouble with the rodeo theme.

So I'm not too excited about this new show on HM.

I did not like the ending of The Way Home....it did not resolve the missing boy IMHO. Did I miss something?

Sorry, going off topic here. Wondered if it's coming back for another season the way it ended. confused...

I've not watched either of the last two series but I don't believe we will ever again see the likes of Cedar Cove or Chesapeake Shores.

Those were two of the best series. I especially loved Cedar Cove. I hated the way they just abruptly ended CC. I don't know the reason but I felt it still had a way to go before it would have become stale.

Chesapeake Shores had a nice long run and I felt it was time to end it. It ended on such a nice note.

It makes me sad to see the way both of the Hallmark channels are going downhill. The other week-end I watched a marathon of the Garage Sales Mysteries and I couldn't help but compare how much better those mysteries from years ago were to the ones they are making now.

The only two mysteries that I felt were somewhat decent, but not great, were the Curious Caterer series starring Nikki Deloach and Andrew Walker. I think the first one was a little better than the second one.

I know some complained about Hallmark using the same actors in every movie but I have to say that most of them are head and shoulders above some of the more current actors they are using now. It never bothered me seeing the same actors in different roles. Most of them I enjoyed and was able to separate their characters from role to role.

I agree with you about the ending of the Way Home. Why was she dressed in white as the beginning of the series showed and the storyline of the lost boy was never completed. I felt I wasted my time watching it. As for Ride, I did enjoy the first showing and will continue to watch.

As for The Way Home, they kept calling it the season finale, not the series finale, which implies they intend to bring it back, though I hope not. The promos for it alone were beyond annoying. If they do, I won't be watching.

I don't get it. If they wanted to do a western 'save the ranch' theme there was no need to go the rodeo route.

Watched the first episode last night and if they downplay the ridiculous and boring rodeo nonsense, the show might have potential. Some of the characters are interesting and the actors are reasonably good. There's a hint of mystery in there too, but the rodeo sequences go nowhere. Realizing the series has been filmed already, one can only hope they realized early on the interest factor has more to do with the family and the ranch than with Number Two Son as a 'star' bull rider.

Finally watched the first episode and I think that's the last one for me.

I don't like the story at all. I can't even believe this is on the Hallmark Channel.

Big disappointment.

@kug The left a few things open for the possibility of a renewal, I guess. The little boy ran after the family dog to the pond. The dog had a ball. the ball was on the floor in one of the last "present" scenes in the season's final show.

Also, now that Kat was ready to be with Elliot, he needs time to "find himself". I am thinking that maybe he will go jump in the pond and time travel back. Maybe Andie McDowell will jump in the pond, too. Who knows? Perhaps Alice will go back and have her grandfather give her some of his music for her to perform......LOL Just throwing some ideas out there.

I didn't even realize there's a book. Guess I'll wait to see the series continue, if and when.
