Law & Order SVU 1/5 Episode

I notice right off that Olivia, a NYC police captain and living in a security building, has NO dead bolt or peep hole on her door!

In previous years her old place had both and I found this odd, given her status as captain and living in a security building. I just notice litlte things like this.

The continuity people dropped the ball here

I have also noticed (on TV shows) most people do not look to see who is at the door,nor do they bolt the doors.

@Group 5 minus 1 I know and being safety conscious from a young age I always notice this. In years past Olivia always had a peep hole and a dead bolt!

The one security flaw that always gets me is the single female getting into her unlocked vehicle and the killer is hidden in the backseat. No one locks their car door so the vehicle alarm is not on. This is just an invitation to the killer to climb in the backseat unseen waiting to kidnap and kill his victim.

the episode from 1/5 was recorded...we started watching the episode and prompted deleted it. Instead of doing the smart thing of going inside with your child..she goes ouside and confronts the gang members...stupid. we promptly deleted the episode, Another one all about Olivia (probably since we deleted)..It used to be about the story....now for most episodes it seems to be about Olivia....how many tmes can she be attacked..

I still watch SVU. I still like the show. This episode, Olivia did get attacked, but there was a dual storyline to the show. Most of the show was not about her being attacked. I enjoy watching Mariska playing a mature, strong, intelligent, and powerful woman. That aspect is what I like the most about this show. I like Ice-T a lot too. What annoyed me was a commercial I saw a few days before this episode where it was cut to make it look like Olivia was shot in front of her son. Tricking one to watch thinking, hmmmm, wonder how bad she was wounded...where on her body was she shot...will she survive....

The Olivia thing is WAAAAAAYYYYY over done....Now we're going to have to see her with that makeup black eye for half the season...she looks crazier than ever, because her face is now one piece of Botox plastic that barely moves....and the droopfest haircut doesn't help....

It's getting too cornball. They spent some time making comments about missing Rollins....really now, in real life jobs, when people go, they are forgotten before their seat is cold...not on purpose, but because life goes on and they are no longer in it...

I like the old L+O shows....the new seasons are too political and too overdone.

And like someone said.....if a real life NYPD police captain had as many kidnappings, close calls, silly set ups, car crashes, discharging thier weapons....they'd have desked or retired her long ago.

Anyone who lives in NYC today know the police chiefs don't get into a fraction, if ANY, of the mishaps she does. In fact, they don't go out in the field to do the work of the detectives. It's all out of whack.

And the Noah storyline..just too cornball for me. ESPECIALLY when some episodes end with everyone in the squad room in Olivia's livingroom sitting around playing with her kid.

Since Olivia can and does fix everything in one 45 minute filmtime episode, they should send her to Congress. Maybe she could help there.

Re Benson, allow me to add a couple more: she chose her badge over the truth when she beat the bleep out of an already restrained perp, then perjured herself in court in front of a jury. Hmmm... shouldn't she have been charged for that? Oh, wait. A higher-up said he told her to lie for a number of good reasons, then they both decided that was just "stretching" the truth, anyway, and poof! went the grand jury indictment. That, and Benson's puke-puss showing up in the courtroom at every other trial, where the camera pans in on her, seated, looking as if she smells something bad whenever a witness says anything which doesnt align with her sensibilities. Let's just say I'm watching this series in spite of Benson, not because of her.

That just proves what a good series this is, and what a capable ensemble cast they have. It's survived many cast changes through the years although, I have to say, if "Fin" goes, I might be outta there lol.

Agree 100%...

If you add up the time ALL the main player detectives and ole Olivia are seated in court, when do they actually work? If they're NOT testifying, why are they there?

And if they WERE scheduled to testify, they would NOT be in the courtroom where they can hear other's testimony.

And Olivia's ""concerned" prune-face...spot on!!!
