Finished 11 seasons of "Call the midwife" and so sad

I watched one show a couple of years ago and thought I don't want to hear all this screaming and crying. Then out of desparation for something to watch I watched a few more shows and was hooked. I loved this show and I would like to find another great show to watch. I loved Heartland, A place to call home, Good Karma Hospital, Packed to the Rafters, The heart guy and some more I cannot remember.

If anyone know of a series that is great and multiple seasons please let me know. I am not crazy about all the who done it and detective and police series unless the main characters are extra special.

I think you might like Dr Finlay-loved all the characters and really well developed stories of a small town British practice.

I watched the first and second episode of the Midwives and recently one of the last with my daughter and I still wished I hadn't. Way to sad and realistic but my daughter loved this series though she cried throughout many of them.

There's also Doc Martin and though he can get kind of annoying, the series grows on you.

Doc Martin is one of my favorites! I have all the dvds on this series and many more! Yes Doc Martin is annoying but he is suppose to be. Fortunately I have been able to purchase many British series dvds. If you have access to ACORN, BBC you can see many of the British series. Dr Finley is an older series and I lIked it but it is really outdated but still good. Midsomer murders is another good one as well. My favorite was MORSE. His partner was a young man named Lewis. Once the lead actor who played Morse died then a few years later, then a new series called Lewis followed. The actor that played Lewis in the Morse series stared as Lewis in the new series. Enjoy!

I absolutely love Call the Midwife----such a touching show and how she narrates the show is timeless. ALSO I love nuns...so this was a treat for me. EACH show has a lesson to learn, or an insight to hold onto....for anyone who has not watched............WATCH, it will warm your heart during a time of crazy.

AND i have found nothing in comparison sadly.

@chiclet Call the Midwife is spectacular. Each episode is an hour of fictionalized life at its best. So many scenes bring me to tears, then immediately after the tears, there may be a heartwarming scene that makes me smile and feel good.

I'm so glad that you mentioned Good Karma Hospital. That is a great show and the Indian landscape makes beautiful scenery. A Place to Call Home is a favorite of mine. I was not expecting to like The Heart Guy but ended up liking it very much. Doc Martin was mentioned as a program to watch and I agree. I can watch the episodes over and over again. Fans of the show who have not seen the prequel movie where Martin first arrives in Port Wenn should check it out. The producers really made some changes in Martin Ellingham's character for the weekly series. ITV is airing the final season in the UK right now so it should be aired in the next few months on Acorn and/or PBS.

Seaside Hotel on PBS is a good show, now in season 9.
