Kathy Lee Giffard's Husband Died Today!

I was watching the football game this evening and they announced that Frank Gifford (Kathy Lee Gifford's husband) died today.

They said they'd talk about it later (hey! Game's gotta go on!).

Kathy Lee is teamed with Hoda as part of the latter Today Show.

He was in his mid 80's. Quite a bit older than she is.

I remember that it was a scandal but not much about it. They have two children and the daughter (Cassidy) remember how she always talked about the children and it would (supposedly) drive Regis crazy? She also has a son. The daughter is in at least one movie (I caught her talking about it and Cassidy has been making some rounds promoting it, forget the name).

Sad to hear this. I used to watch Regis and Kathy Lee , when she spoke of Frank and the kids all the time.

I really dislike seeing threads like this as their isn't much value to them. If a famous person or celebrity dies, it is plastered all over the news and social media. I don't know why people race here to post it as if they are the first to know. It also gets me that when something is shared it is followed by an exclamation point as if it is exciting and good news. Also, it just usually promotes gossip or known conversation about the people close to the deceased. Just like someone here had to point out that Kathie Lee and he got together while he was still married ? Why was that important to post? Whose business is it and who cares? Is it passing judgement on the deceased?

If it is about a QVC persona, you will see many posts about the same thing on the same day, etc. I don't mean to sound cranky, it's just that this always bothers me as I don't understand posters who do this and why? I couldn't do it as I don't want to be part of a gossip trail or incite negative comments. People will hear of these famous events without posting here.

Jut me getting this off my back.

I know others won't feel this way at all. Too familiar with the "It's a free world and we can do what we want to do. etc. phrases."

I do so agree, Redhead. Why is it so important to bring past gossip up on the forum?There's plenty enough every where else if one is interested. Wouldn't it be a different world if we would all put ourselves in another's place?

I see nothing wrong with posting this? Especially when the OP was watching football and the news was announced. The OP is not trying to claim fame for knowing this info.

At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all, Kathie Lee (or is it Cathy?) gave a long heart-felt tribute to her husband which many may care to watch. Apparently the TODAY show allowed her the honor of sharing this tribute to her husband.

That was me.....I posted it. I used to watch Kathy Lee with Regis every morning. They provided many laughs for me.

Her husband was a celebrity in his own. I was watching football when they announced it on the air.

I don't know why it would upset some people. I also don't know why anyone would feel the need to see the negative side of me letting other people know this. This forum is about TV and movies. She is and was on TV and he STILL as recently as a few weeks before he died (if not sooner) came on her show (you know, the one she's on now).

I do not apologize for posting this. There are people who thought he was was a kind person. I didn't know him, although I saw him quite a few times on TV.

The next day Hoda (Kathy Lee's partner on their morning show) did the show with former President Bush's daughter (she's sometimes on the show) and they talked about Kathy Lee and how she's doing and they talked and showed video of Frank. It was a nice remembrance.

So, once again. I do not understand negative comments just because I posted this. Perhaps red, you aren't familiar with our posting here.

We have been know to post comments that might just be on our minds. I think (speaking for myself) of our group as family. When someone has something on their minds and posts here, we all care if they are feeling badly. This is not the case with posting about Frank Gifford.

I simply use it as an example to let you know, red, that I don't think there is anyone here who has any animosity toward each other for any of our postings (whatever they are).

If I overstepped or made someone angry (other than red, obviously) I apologize. I still stand by my post and thought some of you would want to know. Annabellethecat.

Oh Annabelle----of course you didn't overstep or make anyone angry. I don't think Red is angry, either, and I certainly don't think she was criticizing you personally.

There are posters , mostly on Community Chat, who absolutely wallow in the misfortunes of others and get caught up in almost a mob mentality. It is disturbing.

The unspoken philosophy on the TV thread is everyone's opinion is welcomed and I know you would agree that Red is no exception.

@Annabellethecat66 I remember when I used to watch the Regis and Kathy show, her kids were little and I so loved it when she shared funny, cute stories about them. She mentioned that she had to stop this as the children were old enough to know... you know, when they get a little older they become "aware" of the stuff their mom tells about them!

I do agree Danky. I guess it just hit me wrong. I always hesitate putting something like that out there, but I was watching football and they announced it as it had just happened.

I saw her recently (along with Hoda) on "Watch What Happens Live" on Bravo (it's good, funny and totally unscripted). She and Hoda were soooo funny and you can tell they adore each other.

I just felt so sorry for her because I know how much she loves him (like I do/did my late husband). When you belong to the Widow's group, you don't want to belong there, but you don't get a say.

I hope Red sees this and I apologize for being rude to her.
