If you want to hear a beautiful song

I woke up in the middle of the night and House of Gucci was just getting over and the final song was so beautiful that I got up so I could find out what it was before I forgot. It's one of those songs that makes me feel emotional for some reason.

It is originally by Tracy Chapman but this version was her and Pavarotti doing it live. If you search on YouTube for Baby Can I Hold You Tonight - Pavarotti and Tracy Chapman Live you will find it. The video quality is bad, but the song is just gorgeous. Their voices are both so beautiful and go together so well, I get goosebumps.

If you haven't heard it and and like either of these artists, i highly recommend checking it out.

@lkat I love Tracy Chapman. I haven't heard the rendition of that song with Pavarotti, but I love the song. My favorite Tracy Chapman song is "Smoke and Ashes". Check it out when you have time.❤️ She was the musical guest on David Letterman's last show.

@NEvans2 That's a great song too. I love all of her songs, she just has such a smooth, gorgeous voice. I wish she was still making new music.

If you have a chance, check out the song with Pavarotti. I love the original version, but it really sounds cool with his vocals.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I've never heard it, I've seen the program on one of my streaming channels, but have not watched it. Beautiful music by such gifted artists.

I'm so glad someone else noticed and heard that beautiful duet at the end of the movie. I was wowed too. I have always loved them both but somehow had never heard this performance.

Do you know when it was? I'm thinking early 2000's. I know he died in 2006 or 07.

That was beautiful. Love Pavarotti (sp), never knew of her or that song, but it does give you goose bumps. Oh that was great. Thanks for letting us know about that.

@MrsSB I belive it was in 2000 at a Pavarotti and Friends concert for Tibet and Cambodia. I was confused at first when I saw the date of the video because I thought he died somewhere around that time. I don't know much of his music, but I thought his powerful voice blended so well with her more softer, smooth voice.

I read that Tracy hasn't retired but she hasn't released anything new since 2008. I still listen to and love her older music, but would love to hear something new.

Now I have to go back and watch the movie again. I put it on late at night when I couldn't sleep but fell asleep after about 20 minuts and didn't wake up until the very end. I was very glad I woke up when I did though or I would've missed hearing a song that I can't stop listening to

@lkat Yes, the dates on youtube are always confusing. They only show when it was posted not the year of the original performance or song release. I wish they would add that information as well.

Tracy's voice is so distinctive and I've loved her since "Fast Car".

Opera, on the other hand, has not been a life long love of mine at all. I can't tell one opera singer from another usually. But I can certainly appreciate the talent and commitment to the art.

And I especially love and appreciate when two such disparate genres join on collaborations such as this.

Another fan of Tracy Chapman and remember her busking in Boston.

Pavarotti is an example of being humble with his extraordinary talent; his willingness to pair with others who are not of his genre and style-just a overall good person.

I've grown to admire and appreciate opera and classical music in general more and more the older I get. I also think I've been influenced by having an in law join the family who is a professional in the field.
