I've Tired of the Current "Jeopardy" Champion

Mattea Roach is very knowledgeable on many subjects and is fast on the buzzer. She has made quick work of her opponents everyday. But I have tired of her frequent hand-waving and constant chatter. It is as if she is on a talk show offering her impressions of the proceedings.

I'm probably the only viewer who feels this way, and I can always turn off the program if it bothers me too much. Thanks for letting me rant.

Both my dh and I are so tired of the constant hand flopping,and there was so much of it on Monday's show. I know it's a small thing but it's distracting. I started just listening last night after a while and sat doing a soduku puzzle at the same time. I'm ready for someone else to win anyway because I enjoy the show more when they have different winners and one person doesn't dominate so much.

How long has Mattea been on?

After the last marathon, I thought Jeopardy would return to imposing limits on returning champions. I guess they didn't.

Apparently ratings climb when they have these champions who go on and on and on.

I personally would love to see the 5 day limit return. There have been some champions who lasted forever that were enjoyable and some who were not (IMO). It is just fresher and more enjoyable when the contestants frequently change over. This current champion

is quite smart and has the buzzer down pat. Her hand motions and theatrics are off-putting. I haven't watched the last couple of episodes because I would rather wait until she is off.

@ValuSkr 19 years ago J! did away with the 5 game limit.

I am active on the J! FB page and tons of people are sick of her flapping hands, her constant comments about her wagers, etc. I liked her at first but now find her annoying.

I am really sick of Ken's constant comments to her as if he's trying to be friends and he does not do that with any of the other contestants.

I like Ken but not his what I consider his overly friendly comments to Mattea. I don't mean that they are nasty in any way, just way too familiar.

She is an 18 or 19 game winner. I like the long running champs but she has worn out her welcome for many.

Sadly, while I greatly respect her intelligence, I have grown weary of Mattea. It is simply not much fun to see her monopolize the board night after night after night.

She does, however, make for good comedic material. During commercial breaks we imitate Mattea answering a very basic question but being as verbose as we possibly can be.

And finally, I do think Ken is a bit smitten by her intelligence. I don't think I have ever seen him engage with someone quite so much.

She continues to impress day after day with her intelligence.

I just watched and there was a category about generals. I forget the question but the answer was Oliver North. I thought there was no way she could possibly come up with that as she is so young and Canadian to boot. Sure enough, she was right.

Keep in mind she is Canadian and answering all sorts of questions about America, including its history.

I like her and she seems to be enjoying herself. I find her quirky and different and appreciate that.

I am more interested in the show if there is a long running contestant to see if they can get through another day and see where they end up in the Jeopardy record books.

We find her so annoying between that hand flapping and need to comment on everything she does. She is very smart, but needs to keep quiet and stop with all the theatrics!!

There are a lot of people on Facebook who agree. We can't wait until she is off the show.

I haven't watched Jeopardy for a long time. When they started their revolving door of hosts, that was enough for me.

Is Ken the host now? Seems I read somewhere that he was. I don't care for him, so guess I won't be watching it anymore for sure.

I'm not only tired of this flibbertigibbet, I don't like the things about her that others do. She's super annoying, with her wrist-flicking, the vocal uptick with every response, her clown faces, and the breathless incredulity when she's unsure of an answer and surprises herself.

More importantly, the contestants are not well-matched. With few exceptions, they could have placed a picture of each opponent at their respective podiums--that-s how [non-] competitive they've been. And if these contestants are ALL going to be kids, where are the computer nerd-types who often excel at these games?

Don't get me started, too, on the infusion of pop culture. Whoops. Too late! Not only does almost every round have TV, Movie, Actors, etc. as categories, but the "crossovers" are ridiculous, with even Science and Geography categories having the obligatory "...played by [so-and-so] in the movie ____"

If you tap into some of the fan pages on various platforms, many are tuning out, with some calling for a return of the 5-day limit for champs. I'm beginning to agree with that.

I like her, she seems relaxed, enjoying herself and has Ken enjoying the show too. They're getting through the entire categories, so her comments aren't interfering and using up time. I didn't like the other woman on tonight's show, 4/26.

@deepwaterdotter Nope you aren't the only one. I have been tired of watching her most of the time she has been on. The constant chattering and hand waving. If you keep watching when the show is over during the credits, she is still chattering on and on. One of her answers tonight was, "That thing they swing around in church". That is not an answer. The reason she answers so many questions is (I think) is because she is a tutor. She should know a lot about many things. I just wish she would go away. I keep rooting for the other players.

Those that are super critical of Matthea should try to keep in mind that she is only 23 years old on national TV every day, and playing under pressure to do well.

She is also Canadian, not even playing in her home country.

If I put myself in this situation at the age of 23, I can't imagine what I might do that those watching would find incredibly annoying and say they didn't like me.

I don't mind the hand fapping. I do wish I didn't have to look at that nose ring. Nevertheless, it's great to watch an intelligent woman on a quiz show. I had the misfortune of watching Wheel of Fortune when contestants came up with the wrong answer repeatedly. As we used to say, "What dumb-bells!"

She irritates me and I just don't like her. I stopped watching, I'll go back to watching when she's gone.
